I actually think we've done OK the last few years with centers. We nursed Shaq back to health, he was just a wrong fit for our style. Lopez was solid for us, Gortat's a legit center who was another victim of bad timing. We have Len who's at least a rim protector and has some upside, and Chandler who's a legit paint defender. Much better than the days of Cliff Robinson, Mark Bryant, Corey Blount, Jake Voskuhl manning the 5 spot.

I get what you are saying, but the 90s was not dominated by centers. Or at least, the best centers were not winning rings. Especially if you consider Hakeem playing more like a PF.

I'm good if the Suns somehow get the #1 pick and draft Simmons. I'd even be alright if the Suns pick Tyler Ullis and Thon Maker with their later picks. Next year's draft will be a much better draft for passing PGs and SFs.

Michael Jordan skewed the 90s if you just look at titles alone. But big men were plentiful and important in that decade and into the 2000s. Ewing, Olajuwon, Mutombo, Mourning, Robinson, Duncan, Shaq, Smits, ...

Nothing won you rings as long as Jordan was playing. But the two season he didn't, plus '99 and '00 were Hakeem, Duncan and Shaq (plus Kobe).

I fear you may be right. It's like the WIldcat in the NFL. Showed moderate success but proved to be a gimmick when everyone figured out how to defend it. We played one decent season winning 48 games because everyone took us lightly and Dragic & others had career years. It's foolish to think that success was due to the misguided 2 PG system and not... other factors.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't play 2 point guards at once. I'm just saying it shouldn't be a system that you married to and that dictates personnel decision-making.
