Bingo! Ugly Truth gets it. The Suns minimized him and made him play off ball after his MIP season just the season before.Indy wrote:You can argue that signing IT is what made him feel that way...
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

That was after he willingly came back to us after we traded him to Houston. I expect he felt disrespected and out of place. He was a very popular player for most of his time in Phoenix and was being made to play a role that was really uncomfortable while reducing his market value. He wanted out and we got good value in the trade to Miami.UglyTruth wrote:They got rid of him by forcing his hand and signing and drafting multiple PGs after he just had an All NBA season.Indy wrote:Just to be clear, he got rid of us.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:Good thing we got rid of that loser!!
Unfortunately basketball has not been much fun to watch in this town since we traded him. We will never know but I think a Dragic / Booker backcourt would have been really nice.
The real question is whether or not McDonough is capable of making the right decisions going forward. His history has been sketchy at best. His choices of head coaches has been horrible. His drafts picks, other than Booker, have not been good. We have not signed one legit free agent that this team can grow with. All of them have been either role players or players at the end of their careers. His trades have provided little. The best one was for Bledsoe but while he puts up good numbers, he has been injured a lot and the team has struggled.
What was the reason to get rid of Monty again? Oh yeah, that guy we drafted rather than Doncic.
Re: Around the League: Week 16 2/6 - 2/12
Did anyone really want him on the team as a $100M PG for 6 years? And despite how he has blown up in Boston, that was a very good deal Ryan made, signing him for peanuts and getting a 1st for him.
Re: Around the League: Week 16 2/6 - 2/12
So he was butt-hurt because he had to play with other PGs, and then decided if he can't play his way, he wasn't going to play here at all. Either way, he is the one that quit "us."Superbone wrote:Bingo! Ugly Truth gets it. I would take him for $100M over 6 years every time over paying Knight $14M/season over 5 years.Indy wrote:Did anyone really want him on the team as a $100M PG for 6 years? It's not even close.

Hindsight. Lets not act like this is the Thomas that was here or even in Sacramento.UglyTruth wrote:I would take him for $100M over 6 years every time over paying Knight $14M/season over 5 years.Indy wrote:Did anyone really want him on the team as a $100M PG for 6 years? Those deals aren't connected. Of course I would rather have Dragic than Knight. I would rather bring Langhi back than have Knight.UglyTruth wrote:I would take him for $100M over 6 years every time over paying Knight $14M/season over 5 years.Indy wrote:Did anyone really want him on the team as a $100M PG for 6 years? My point is simply that just because we didn't give Dragic that fat contract doesn't mean we saved some huge amount of money since we ended up wasting most of it on Knight anyway.Indy wrote:Those deals aren't connected. Had we not given Dragic the money and used the money elsewhere on a difference maker then sure would make more sense. But we spent it on Brandon Knight which is worse.
Even despite Dragic having a bigger contract, he still has 3x the trade value that Brandon Knight would have.
Re: Around the League: Week 16 2/6 - 2/12
I really do miss Dragic a lot. But I think getting 2 first-round picks for him was a great deal. If you just take that deal in isolation and decouple it from the other crappy deals we made the same day (which I acknowledge is hard to do), it was a great move.

I'm pretty sure Indy means $100 mil for 4 years, right? No way is anybody getting IT for 16 mil a year in this cap environment. And he made that brinks truck comment some time back, not that he doesn't deserve it. What is a brinks truck anyway?

Does anyone know what's going on with Charles Oakley right now? He's on the ground getting arrested at MSG.

Pelicans lose to Utah by 33. Not sure Gentry has a job next week. I thought they'd axe him over the Summer but now I don't think he gets there.

Oakley is still pissed about being traded away from the Jordan Bulls and missing out on all those championships ....
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

he would have been ideal in today's nba. a jumpshooting PF.LazarusLong wrote:Oakley is still pissed about being traded away from the Jordan Bulls and missing out on all those championships ....

Oakley would give Cousins a run on his technical foul lead in today's NBA.
