How much is Mcdo willing to give up to get Ainge's #1 pick?

Post by SDC »

his former boss will not select fultz or ball at #1 and undermine little ET.

it may require parting ways with chriss or bender.

Let's wait to see how the ping pong balls bounce. Only a 25% chance Ainge even gets #1.

Boston is only trading that pick for a star. If Butler, Cousins, or George becomes available, then you'll see Boston move that pick.

If Boston trades that pick for Butler or George they will regret it.

i think they'd settle for a package of lesser players with potential.

Why do you say that? They are both legit top 10-15 players.

I dont think they are real difference makers, if there is a Pacer I'd trade that pick for its Turner, not George.

Hmmm, I wouldn't trade it for Turner. He's a nice player, who should be very good down the line, but there is at least 3 guys in this draft I take over him.

Throw Butler or George on the celtics and they've got a legit shot at beating the cavs and going to the finals.

I dont know if that is true. Give them a stretch 4/5 who doesnt need the ball to contribute and I think they are better off. Especially with how ball dominant Thomas needs to be to be productive. I also think you are vastly underrating Turner. He's right there for me as a guy I'd consider trading Booker for.

They've already got Horford, while Turner and Horford could play together, I'm not sure they need both. Paul George or Jimmy Butler would take a lot of pressure off IT. While he seems to be handling the pressure just fine right now, the playoffs will be a whole different story.

I don't think I'm under rating Turner. I think he's right there with Booker as well, but like Booker, he's still 20 years old and has a ways to go. Boston is primed to win now, not in 5 years.

Yeah, look at it if you are Boston. The big three this draft is two PGs and a SF. You have the new Iverson and your last #3 is a SF too. Also have Smart and Bradley.

Trading out makes a ton of sense for them if they can get a monster. I trade for George and Cousins for sure. Butler would give me pause, though.

If you plan on going through LeBron in the east and winning trading those assets for Butler or George are a must. Butler's team is 8-6 vs. LeBron's team since 2012. There's no such thing as a LeBron stopper but making it hard on him is as good as it gets so adding one of those 2 guys is the play. I guess it depends on how "win now" they are with this team. IT is a UFA and do they keep him? Their next best player is Horford. Boston is not exactly a power house as constructed. How good is a IT-Butler-Horford trio anyway?

IT-Butler-Horford makes them a credible threat in my opinion. Assuming they keep their upper tier role players, Stevens with real ammo to throw at LeBron would be scary. If I were Ainge I'd absolutely ride this wave.

I don't watch much of the Celtics games this year, but when I listen to Bill Simmons talk about them, he says they still need a go-to guy at the end of games. You'd think I.Thomas would be that guy, and to some degree he is. But he's short and has some limitations as a player, so he can sometimes be shut down at the end of games. They really need a swingman who can go get a bucket when the game is on the line. At least, that's what Simmons and his Ringer NBA people say a lot, and they seem to follow the team closely, for what that is worth.

it's good that phx has two easy paths to getting the #1 pick this year.
