I just finished watching all the All-Star Saturday stuff on DVR. Ugh; pathetic. The 3-point shootout was a little better. Congrats to Eric Gordon. The wrong Gordon won, I suppose... The Dunk Contest was real crap. This was Aaron Gordon's contest, but his untimely foot injury did him in. I kind of rooted for Jones Jr, but he isn't really much of a Sun, so I didn't have much invested.

You said it. We have the 29th-best record in the league, and that's not good enough to convince the skeptics? They are so demanding!

Seriously, what has Watson done to convince anyone who wasn't already convinced? Are we winning more than expected? Are the young players developing faster than expected? Or are we underachieving on both fronts?
We aren't winning more than I expected and we aren't really losing more than I expected. Maybe losing a lottle more than I expected. Booker is one step from an All Star. We wondered if he would be able to live up to last years great rookie year. He did IMO. Don't hear anybody really complaining about the Booker pick.

Chriss has started the whole year. I would have to say he got more playing time than I expected. I didn't have any expectations of Chriss other than I hope he doesn't suck. He has been for lack of a better word quiet. Shown flashes of athleticism but, seems a little hesitant or tentative. Kind of dissapears. I was wondering if he was going to score in the USA/World game. He finally got a beast mode of a dunk. He hardly touched the ball at all and it's lke that on the Suns. I just wonder if that is his rookie game or is he trying to fit in and taking a back seat.

My jury is still out on Watson. The players don't seem to be blowing him off and they still seem to be trying. The players aren't sick of Watson IMO. I don't think Watson has changed anybody's mind yet. If the hated him they still hate him. If they liked him they probably still like him. Both predictions have not come true for the most part.

Booker fumbled n the All Star skills contest.

Derrick Jones almost won the Slam Dunk contest.

Derrick Jones Jr.
Suns | Forward
Grade: B-plus

Results -- 45, 50 in Round 1; 37, 50 in Round 2

Analysis
Every bit as spectacular as Robinson at his best -- he too earned a pair of 50s -- Jones had to settle for second place because of his inability to make his first dunk of the final round, when he tried to jump over three people and windmill the ball through the hoop. When Jones missed all three tries, the resulting score of 37 was enough to effectively knock him out of contention.

Earlier, Jones got a 45 for a similar dunk where he cleared four players (including teammate Marquese Chriss, who stands 6-foot-10) without the added flourish of the windmill. He scored a perfect 50 for going between the legs off a backboard feed from teammate Devin Booker, a dunk Jones might have wanted to save in hindsight. And though it was for naught, Jones earned his other 50 on his final attempt for going between his legs with power off a bounce pass.

Slam dunk contest was so whack.

Derrick Jones Jr is as athletic as he is and couldn't do anything better than just lining people up and jumping over them?

Eric Gordon did well in the 3pt contest but nothing extraordinary like when they had Steph and Klay both in it.

Sager thing was pretty cool. Idk why they asked DeRozan to come and shoot instead of Booker but okay.

Kenny Smith is the biggest Suns hater ever. F*** him and his hot ass wife (in different ways)

They had way too many dunks that involved jumping over a line of people. Soooooo unoriginal.

Is this an All Star game or an ad for New Orleans?

I think they need to put something at stake in the All-Star game. Maybe home-court advantage in the NBA Finals or something like that. We need these guys to care and play seriously. This game is stupid. They just throw up alley-oops with absolutely no resistance.

I'm kind of done with hearing about KD and Russell Westbrook's very overhyped "beef," too. Just let the guys play.

Its called the all star break for a reason, its supposed to be a time to relax and celebrate the game. Not go out and try hard for some grumpy old dudes. Putting something like home court on the line is ridiculous to me.

i'd rather see 3x3 basketball in the all star game. each team forms a 4-man squad. each game is 10 to 15 minutes, tops.

Play hard and then get injured and miss the rest of the season? This is just a real friendly pick up game for a reason.

It's not basketball when you only play one side of the ball. That was a waste of time.

That's fine but tonight was the least basketball played in the history of the NBA all-star game.
