Re: Suns send Cash to Hawks for Mike Scott and 2nd Rounder
I don't get why a pick is involved at all.
Re: Suns send Cash to Hawks for Mike Scott and 2nd Rounder
Maybe it is protected through 55 or something...

"Suns trade for Mike Scott"

Re: Suns send 2nd Rounder to Hawks for Mike Scott
I think we are required to send something other than cash. Probably protected through 55 and it will never transfer unless we are a title contender.
Re: Suns send 2nd Rounder to Hawks for Mike Scott
From Wikipedia. On July 30, 2015, Scott and his brother, Antonn, were arrested for drug charges after 35.2 grams of marijuana and 10.9 grams of MDMA were found in a SUV driven by Antonn. The vehicle originally had been stopped for following too closely in Banks County, Georgia on Interstate 85 northeast of Atlanta; the vehicle failed to yield for about two miles, with speeds reaching 98 mph, before it finally pulled over.[23] Scott is facing a possible 25-year prison sentence for his drug charges.

They've traded for a retired MLB pitcher?
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

A BLOCKBUSTER!
Re: Suns send 2nd Rounder to Hawks for Mike Scott
Apparently they acquired Scott to help reach the salary floor.
The shitty thing about that is, if they hadn't reached the salary floor, they would have been required to pay the difference to their roster and split it among their current players. So basically this is a passive aggressive way of them telling the entire roster, "We would rather give this complete scrub $3m than let you guys have it."

Re: Suns send 2nd Rounder to Hawks for Mike Scott
No, it's more like we're giving him a little less than $1M, they are only on the hook for what's remaining of his deal. Still, it is kind of a slap in the face. It's also S.O.P. for all teams. I've yet to see a team actually distribute the shortfall.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:Apparently they acquired Scott to help reach the salary floor.
