PJ Tucker to the Raptors
Re: PJ Tucker to the Raptors
I can see why the team and Tucker might be upset. We didn't commit to the rebuild fully we only dropped one guy. So it comes off like the front office thinks he was holding the team back from competing now.

Re: PJ Tucker to the Raptors
-PJ, we are sending you out of here by the All Star break, but you have to look sad about it, you know, to break the recent trend we have in our mid season dealing.
-Ok, as long as I get 30 minutes a game, or else I will pull a Goran on you, once I do Media in my new team.
-Deal.
-And a Starter spot.
-Got it. But you have to leave crying the last practice, and call us family.
-Just if I get to play Point forward or whatever mood I feel that day.
-Sold.

Toronto traded the lower of their two firsts for ibaka, they weren't going to give us the higher one for tucker

I think the problem was not him, but the fact that our coach was choosing to start him or play him 30+ minutes in a lot of games.
If we could have gotten a 1st rounder for PJ, I think that would have been good to do. You have to take it if you can get that kind of value. But two crappy second-rounders? And a fat broken player who won't amount to anything? That's garbage.
I would rather have just kept him for the rest of the year and either let him leave or sign him cheap, whatever he prefers.
I can urinate in an empty bottle for you and that bottle would have the same value as the 2 second rd Raptors picks.

No it's not. The Suns could just buy 2nd second picks if they really love some prospect in the 2nd round. Especially for a 2nd rd pick that late.Indy wrote:That is just silly.UglyTruth wrote:2 incredibly late 2nd rounders are worthless.Indy wrote:We can still sign him if we wanted to. Re: PJ Tucker to the Raptors
I liked PJ. I'm ok with the trade. Sounds like the Raptors rented him for two months and we got two second rounders for that privilege plus a warm body. Two second rounders isn't much. Two months of Tucker playing for a last place Suns team isn't worth much either. Maybe the picks can be combined or traded at some point for something. The good from this is minutes freed up now. On the grand sceme of things this trade doesn't mean much to the overall picture IMO.
In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.
Re: PJ Tucker to the Raptors
I think if the Suns ever trade Bledsoe, it means the very next press release will likely be the termination or resignation of Ryan McDonough.Superbone wrote:Are you kidding? If the selling teams are willing to accept a bottle of sour piss for their 2nd rounders, he still got a point.

Re: PJ Tucker to the Raptors
For those picks, I would have kept Tucker, even if he would have been let go next offseason. Just play him less and you are good.
Masai got what he needed and we didn't. If a team is making win now moves you don't settle for that crap. Masai wouldn't have spent a 1stR? So be it. His loss, not ours. It's Toronto who is going to need defense against LeBron, not PHX.
At least those who incesantly wanted to remove Tucker got their wish so there's that.
Anyway, the real moves were Knight for nothing and Bledsoe for a lot (if available).

Re: PJ Tucker to the Rapt
I really don't understand why there's so much negativity about this PJ trade. I do admit that I don't follow everyone's personal take on his issue consistently so maybe it's because there are two camps and one side loves PJ and the other hates him and whatever McDonoug does he makes half this place angry. All I know is we sent out someone we don't really need for some fairly low end assets and it feels far more fair than some of the other trades that went down.
Would I have preferred something else to happen? Sure. In light of those other things not happening was this a bad move? I would say no. I think we are grasping at straws if we really take a few tears to mean that PJ was upset by the trade. We sent him to a better winning situation and made him happy so hopefully other future players look at that and appreciate it. We also kind of did Toronto a favor and hopefully next time we talk to them about a deal that doesn't swing the fences for either side they let us win one. I can't see any negative coming out of such a trade and truly don't get all the hate.
And please stop putting more value on two months of practice time against PJ. This isn't KG we are talking about and all the young ones have had plenty of practices and wisdoms from PJ. I wish him the best in Toronto and also hope someone gives him one last nice contract.

Excelent take, specially the angry half part, we are leaning toward permanently displaying harsh phrases and a negative attitude, as a "cool" thing.pickle wrote:I really don't understand why there's so much negativity about this PJ trade. Re: PJ Tucker to the Raptors
I can't speak for others, but my qualm is that Masai clearly had the need and the adequate disposable asset. Put a top 25 protection on the pick if it helps you save face, whatever. But give me a first round pick. If Bojan Bogdanovic can get it for the Nets, Tucker should have been the same for PHX. It was a matter of truly being willing to keep the player if Toronto doesn't give you something worthwhile. I am not into doing favors to others for nothing.

Re: PJ Tucker to the Raptors
I got you, but as Pickle said, there is no need to rape (or beat) the other side on every move we made. This is a fairly intrasdescental move FOR US, so we make a solid for Toronto, next time hopefully we can get the upper hand, if the table turns about who needs it more. This is how you cultivate long term relationships around the league, small favors for nothing but the future. And is very likely that precisely under that "I want my cake" optic, that we still have Knight on board.Ring_Wanted wrote:I can't speak for others, but my qualm is that Masai clearly had the need and the adequate disposable asset.
