Ott’s got a tall task ahead of him distributing minutes when all the guards get healthy. A lot of deserving players and not a lot of minutes to go around.
Who here is still upset that Goodwin beat out Butler? :P

And on the Nigel Hayes-Davis watch, he has fallen out of the rotation. It's looking like the gambit of nabbing him from Euroleague while he was at the top of game there didn't pan out. But I like that the front office is keeping their eyes open and taking shots like this. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. But I do feel a little bad for NHD that it hasn't worked out great for him. OTOH, he's still getting paid pretty well and is on a fun NBA team. I'm sure he's a great locker room guy.

I think most of us just wanted them to keep both

Sorry, NHD. We're just going to eat your contract and send you on your way. Sorry you packed up all your belongings and left the Euroleague for the NBA. Our bad. We decided to make an all guard team to the best of our ability.

Gotta win the ugly ones and this was mostly an ugly one. Book's in a slump but did turn it on later in the game. He also got to the line 11 times but should've been more, he just can't get a decent whistle. We mostly hustled to this win and had to since we only shot 44%. We took 20 more shots than the Spurs tho and surprisingly only committed 6 turnovers to their 19 so it was a very clean game from that perspective.

Goodwin impacted things well on both ends, CG has been our most steady player off the bench, Livers and Oso gave good minutes too. Thought we had some trouble containing Fox but he's a tough cover. Keldon Johnson's a guy who just finds ways to score and grab rebounds but generally we did well defensively. If we could've hit some shots or finished at the rim in the first half this game wouldn't have been as close.
Seemed everytime we would breathe on Fox he was shooting free throws. I felt like we defended him well and he would have finished with single digit points. He shot more FTs than out entire team. It was bullshit.
Not true! He shot the same number of free throws as the entire Suns team. He did make more, though.

We had two roster spots. NHD could stay as well. We still have an empty roster spot.

Ok, so let's sacrifice the flexibility to add a big to stack our all guard roster. Got it.

Suns have made a crazy run up the Athletic's power rankings from the start of the season to now. I believe they started out something like 27th and in Tier 5: Basement Floor. Now in Tier 2: In a Good Place below the Top Contenders tier.
8. Phoenix Suns (11-6)

Last ranking: 13
In the last week: W at POR, W vs MIN, W vs SA
Offensive rating: 116.9 (10th place)
Defensive rating: 112.0 (seventh place)

Thankful: Dillon Brooks

The Suns lost four games in a row in October and have since recovered to win 10 out of the last 12 games. This is Brooks’ ninth NBA season. He has been to the playoffs in four of those seasons. Brooks played a big role in turning around the Memphis Grizzlies, and he was instrumental in helping the Houston Rockets get the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. Now, it looks like he could help his third franchise of the 2020s return to a certain level of rep. Brooks is allowed to take more shots than ever, averaging 21.4 points on 45.5 percent shooting from the field, both of which would be career bests.

No flexibility needed to be sacrificed, butler was on a non-guaranteed contract until January 7th…could’ve waived him at anytime.

Looks like Dunn and Allen will be out against OKC. Must be a hell of a thigh bruise for Allen.

The thing is, with some of these role players, I often see them get knocked down and bruised and they just get back up. In the Kings' game I saw both Goodwin and Gillespie hobbled at different points in the game, but they just get back up and play because they are still young and they are still trying to earn that next big contract. Players who are a bit more established tend to take nights off. In the case of Grayson, I don't think he's thinking of himself as being established. I think he's just had multiple falls and knockdowns and bruises over the first few weeks that are building up to this, and the team is not going to beat an OKC juggernaut with him back anyway so it's better to let him heal up properly.
