Same here, but for a different reason. I think the draft pick is more important right now. So we stick with Watson and pick top 3 and then bring in someone else day 1 of the off season.
I like this plan. Gets us the ultimate draft pick and then we start playing the right way. I don't think Watson can "ruin" anybody while finishing out the year.

Nope.
He failed in Boston because he wanted to be the Coach, GM, President, and Everything. He just couldn't work together with anyone else.
Yeah, I don't know much about him other than he was a distinguished college coach. I even forgot about his Boston stint.

According to INF, all of them.

I think instilling a culture where you don't try your hardest, even when completely outmatched, for an entire season, can ruin you. I am not saying that will happen, but it certainly could.

Name two people on this team right now that will be an All-NBA selection in the next 3-4 years. If you don't see two of them, we need more assets on the team. Trading for them isn't going to work, unless we think we will be able to snag the Greek Freak or someone else in his stratosphere.
Right now, I don't see a single person on this team that clearly will be there. I hope Booker gets his defense in check, and can start being consistent with his shot. And I hope that Josh ends up being that two-way player we need. But those are both long shots. And there isn't another player on the team closer than those two.

On the more traditional front, I've always liked Jeff Van Gundy. Also, I read somewhere that Mike Malone might be on the hot seat in Denver if they don't perform well. I think he's a really good, underrated coach.
Unfortunately, I think Sarver is going to stick with Watson through the year, no matter what.
JVG reminds me of Jon Gruden. Name is always brought up, but seems to have no desire to start coaching an NBA team again.
I think coaching USA basketball is his door back in. I think he misses coaching. Not sure he would want to take a bad team, though.

I'm not saying we shouldn't draft new young talent. I honestly think Warren's average and Chriss and Bender are probably busts. But if we feel that way, are we willing to cut our losses and start over with new young players? Not a lot of teams tank and rebuild for 3-4 years only to say, "Damn, these young kids we drafted really aren't any good. Time to start over again". And to take another top 3 pick next summer only ensures guys like Warren, Chriss and Bender are going to get their PT squeezed some more.

I thought about Majerle yesterday, but didn't he leave on bad terms with Sarver? I can't remember the details exactly.
I think Watson is here for the whole season, and honestly, I don't think that's outright terrible. The best thing a new interim coach would do is only make the team suck a little less, which is not the point of tanking. It's going to be brutal to watch, but it's the best thing in the long term if Watson is fired in April and Sarver is willing to spend for a real coach. Late March into April is always when the best candidates are available.

Something I had not considered that i saw elsewhere is although McDonough was extended Sarver wouldn't let him hire a 3rd coach would he? McDonough goes with Watson if he is fired. Just my opinion.

You forgot "Allow Watson to finish his contract (end of 2018/19 season)". And boy, I hope not!

So yes she has more experience than Watson did when he got the job but only 3 years as an assistant. We need a coach with experience at this point not one that will grow with the team.

Every year we dealt with significant injuries that hurt our chances. Yet, every year we were winning 50+ games. We never enjoyed the ride and our FO/ownership never put him at ease despite his success. He knew the clock was ticking for him once Kerr took over.
I am sure glad Mike is no longer our coach, he surely cannot handle the pressure. He left us to take vacations in New York and LA, no one ever complains in those towns and now he is lounging in Houston. No pressure there either.
I much prefer that he left town when he did, the pressure from a GM that did nothing to improve the roster, was well deserved. Then the GM left town to get a loaded roster in GS all while getting a crap load of money.
Go Rockets.

Be careful you don't say Becky Hammon's name 3X or you'll summon Swingman. He was ready for her to become head coach the second she won a Summer League title.

This is only a problem if the kid you draft is a forward or SG. If he is a PG or especially a center, there is no logjam. If BPA is a forward, you make the needed roster adjustments if the new kid is better than Chriss/Bender/Warren. If somehow you feel said BPA is not better than what we have (doubtful), trade the pick.

He left upset because we chose to hire Earl Watson instead of him, wasn't that it? Or was it L*****y H****r?
God, even writing the names of recent Suns coaches makes me feel depressed. What a colossal F-up by our FO.

Ain't that the truth. It is almost not worth watching and has been.
Majerle may not be the answer but I expect he would be welcomed with open arms by the fans. I would.

It was Hunter back in the Blanks era. I'm pretty sure the Majerle relationship has been patched up since then.
ETA: Mori, both of those last names need the automatic **** treatment! Should have been H****r and B****s.
