It's because they want to sign him to a two-year contract with the second being an option year.

Ya it’s not a real no trade clause, it’s an auto no trade because of bird rights. He’d lose his bird rights if he was traded.

He does fit in the terms of getting younger and more athletic. He'd also be the 3rd scorer this team needs, now with that said, still don't wanna pay him 30m a year. We have one scorer like him already in Green, 2 might be a little much.

Regardless of what the structure is, I don't want a 4th best player on my team taking up 30% of the cap.

Well, it's not 30%, its 20%. Mikal is a top-level 2-way wing that never takes a game off. He's worth it.
