So, question. How many players from that draft are better than Deandre Ayton? If you do the draft over, what pick is he?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_NBA_draft
To me, these guys seem better (? = maybe better):
Luka Doncic
Jaren Jackson Jr
Trae Young
Mikal Bridges
SGA
Anfernee Simons
Landry Shamet
Jalen Brunson
Kostas Antetokounmpo
Miles Bridges?
Donte Divincenzo?
Grayson Allen?
Mitchell Robinson?
Jarred Vanderbilt?
Give me your serious list and then I’ll analyze it.
Brunson, Luka, SGA, Young, JJJ would all go higher in a re-draft. The rest is probably a crapshoot.

I thought JeremyG would respond once I put Landry Shamet and Giannis's brother on the list, haha. Just busting your balls Jeremy.

Sure, if we know what we know now it's Gilgeous-Alexander or Doncic with the top pick.
But at the time, Ayton was the concensus choice, with some people preferring Doncic. Young and Bagley were a distant 3rd and 4th (in whatever order).
It's probably time to stop going over a draft that took place 7 years ago.

Yeah, I think it's time we talk about Joe Johnson instead!

Or trading Dennis Johnson or Paul Silas. Or getting the 2nd pick in the Lew Alcindor and David Robinson drafts. Or an injury to Danny Manning or Chris Paul. Or the suspension of Boris Diaw and Amare Stoudemire.
On and on it goes......

Miller was a great shooter, but he was never any higher than All-NBA 3rd team, only made 5 All-Star Games during his 18-year career, made it to the Finals 1 time, and never finished higher than 13th in the MVP voting.
For example, Paul Westphal played 12 years, was All-NBA 1st Team 3 times, and 2nd Team once, was named to the All-Star team 5 of the 7 years he was a starter and went to the Finals twice, and finished as high as 6th in the MVP vote.
Miller made the Hall of Fame because he played at a fairly high level for a long time, Westphal didn't make it right away because he was a reserve his first 3 years in Boston, then after 5 great years for the Suns he started having injury problems when he went to Seattle and he had a much shorter prime.
As for his contemporaries, he certainly wasn't as good as Jordan or Drexler, and was probably a rung lower than Mitch Richmond and Joe Dumars as well. Miller was also great in college, so I think he was a Hall of Famer, but there are still better players at their peak who haven't made it (Marques Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Amar'e Stoudemire, etc.).

Reggie was before his time, he would have been better in todays game. He got to the ft line and shot a lot of 3s(for the time) and hit a high percentage. He’s got a career TS+ of 116(which compares TS% to average TS%). For reference, Curry is 113, so Reggie had a better TS% for his era than Curry does. I’m not saying he’s better than Curry, but he should’ve made more than 5 all-stars and 2 3rd team All-NBAs

Reggie's rated fine overall IMO. Knicks fans are in their feelings because of their history with Reggie, which is overblown somewhat but there's no denying his talent and threat as a scorer/shooter. His personality, trash talk and leaning into being a villain probably elevated him a bit too.

What's next for TNT's 'Inside the NBA' as it transitions to ESPN? Will there be changes to the landmark show?

OMG let the old guys retire.
The NBA is going to continue to have rating problems if they can't figure out how to market to people who don't remember the 90's.

I really like Inside the NBA. I am glad it is staying around. I enjoy having those guys give their takes on the games and playoff series.

They are at least five times better than anything ESPN has out right now for the NBA. Their shows are unwatchable.
