When Phoenix first drafted in 1998, the NBA had 15 rounds. FIFTEEN. Plus the Suns and other expansion teams had five additional rounds, so there were 20 rounds for the Suns in '68.
I am not as old as I thought.

Thanks, Bobster.

It just seems to me that throughout our history, we've had a bum rap in the draft pick category. I guess that comes with the territory of being the fourth most successful team during that time period although that's probably no longer true due to our current 5 year playoff slump. Even when we miss the playoffs, it's not by much and we don't get very good picks. The fifth pick for Len was our highest in a long time. We stupidly gave away that 7th pick (Igoudala) and I guess we did it again with the Lakers pick but who knows where that one will end up.

Yeah, you should have been at .net during those days. The guy was a physical speciman. Unfortunately, that doesn't always translate to a good basketball player.

The Colangeli were great at the draft. That was back when a lot of the other teams didn't know what they were doing. We were routinely finding gems at lowish picks like Mike Finley, Marion, Ced Ceballos, etc. Those were the days.

There really is only one player who they whiffed on - Kendall Marshall. Another case could be made for Earl Clark.

But there were some pretty awful trades - Deng to Chicago so they would have the cap space to sign Q Richardson and Rondo to Boston being the biggest blunders.

6-10 has been our sweet spot. There's always a guy there that drops and turns into the player among that group.

Earl Clark we didn't utilize properly. Marshall was a total whiff. So was Ennis. Lopez, meh. Hibbert, Batum, McGee, Pekovic, DeAndre. Say what you want about some of those other guys but i think some of them could have turned out differently had we drafted them.

Earl calrk went to other teams and wasn't any good. So I disagree we if we utilized him differently he would of turned into a player.

He had a lot of the physical tools, but the dude couldn't shoot.

Good riddance to Earl Clark. He did have one or two good seasons, but they seem to have been a fluke. He's out of the NBA now, right?

BTW, Cleveland just went into Atlanta's house and won 2 games there. Ouch. Cavs in 4 or 5 games looks pretty realistic at this point. Pencil Lebron in for the Finals again. 5 straight years.
