For a guy his size, he’s actually pretty good at defending the perimeter, and his 3-point shooting is serviceable.
Granted, he still can’t dribble worth a damn.
I agree on the perimeter defense but I don't think his 3-point shot is serviceable. It's way too flat as he goes further out. There is no room for error. I think he could get better but he needs to work on adding more arc which he hasn't done so far in his years in the NBA. Probably because the team discouraged him anyway.

His release point is too low to improve the trajectory on his 3-point shot. He'd have to rework some stuff to get there and I don't think it would be worth the risk of screwing with one of his most effective scoring moves in the mid-range.

Ayton shot better than Brook Lopez from three in 2021-22. He’s a better shooter.

1. Lopez played 13 games that season.
2. Lopez has averaged 4.0+ 3PA per game for the past 7 seasons. Ayton has 80 3PA for his entire career.
Lopez is a significantly better 3-point shooter than Ayton by the numbers and by comparing their shooting mechanics.

That tweet is a microcosm of this whole discussion. Make an excuse for DA that is blatantly not true, retort with sarcasm, then we debate the merits of the retort.

By far Ayton's best season percentage on a massive 19 attempts. Every other season under 30% for a career average of a blistering 0.263. He is a BAD three point shooter. Enough with the cherry picking stats. I had to make sure it wasn't Jeremy posting.

Sarcasm guys. Give me some credit that was funny.
I thought so, but the bait was too tempting. Good work.
