Every thread has to be about Ayton.

He’s a dominayton subject, what can we say…. But I agree, I’m ready to move on.

Allen is the most proven shooter outside of EG in our others group. He started 131 games over the last 2 years in Milwaukee. That’s a really good Milwaukee team. He’s a consistent 40% 3pt shooter on high volume. He’s also an agressive and willing defender. His shooting also went up in the playoffs. He’s quite good and I think is being vastly underrated on this board. I don’t like him, he’s got a pretty big history of being a dirty player, but I think he’s the most likely 5th starter for us.
No way, he's much too small to start at SF.
I’d start him to defend POA(Curry, Ja, Fox)…I’d throw Booker or Beal at the 3 defensively. We can always switch it up and go Little or KBD if need be for the right matchup. Okogie started a lot last year and he’s the same size as Allen.
I really appreciate your takes in general split but I think you are way off on Allen as a defender. He is a willing defender in the sense that Shamet is a willing defender but he’s not a net positive in that aspect. I think for the regular season he is ok because his defense is not downright atrocious like some of the other well known shooters, but we are in serious trouble if we depend on him to chase down top creators from another team.

I’d probably prefer KBD or Little as the 5th starter depending on how things play out in camp and pre season.

BK, I just wanted to make a post specifically to mention how much I’ve loved the last few posts of yours in this thread. I liked them but there’s no such option as a double thumbs up so here I am.

That might hurt your wallet worse than your brain cells. A non-traditional double double.

I’m not saying he’s a great defender, just that he’s willing and capable. I’d rather he chase around creators than Book or Beal. If we want to focus more on defense with the 5th starter then it’s probably Little or KBD…though KBD does mean Book or Beal is probably playing POA.

I just think right now Allen has the best combination of being able to defend and shoot. If Little is hitting 3s consistently I do think he’s the best option.

Allen has been hunted in the playoffs for his size…he’s held up just fine in the regular season defensively, but if we get say a Dallas matchup, Luka is gonna hunt Allen(and probably Beal). Little or KBD would be better for that matchup. I’m also not against mixing and matching the 5th starter. There’s a group of 5-6 guys that are all pretty close imo.

Also Shamet was a solid defender in the right matchup. That’s how I see Allen. He’s just a better Shamet.

I generally agree and I’m maybe one of the last Shamet defenders on this board. He made the effort and moved his feet quite well to stay in front of his man. Issue is he could never actually put up deterrence and any time he tried he got whistled for a foul while others with the reputation got away with much more. I can’t tell if I’m a butt hurt suns fan crying foul or if I just don’t know the game as well as I thought. But I digress. Back on point, I think Allen is more on Shamet’s level in that he tries, but he’s not really slowing anyone down. Maybe I haven’t watched enough of him and he’s done more on that end than I thought.

Think the main reason he started so much for the bucks was due to their lack of consistent shooting more so than him being a good defensive player. Here I think we need someone that leans that end of the court as our fifth starter.

Ya I think it was the shooting. I don’t mean to imply that he’s a great defender or that’s why I’d start him. Just that he’s the best shooter that can also at least somewhat credibly defense POA. I don’t think that’s what he’s best suited for though. He was in a pretty good situation next to Jrue/Giannis/Brook in Milwaukee. Jrue did say some good things about him defensively. I just think he can do some of the annoying stuff on defense and will be willing to give most of his effort on that end.

I do hope someone like Little snatches the job though. That would tell me that his offense is good enough to not throw off the flow

I don’t get why we care about how the Blazers use Ayton. Let the Ayton discussions just go to the Ayton thread if they can’t go away completely.

In the interest of discussing a rival NBA team’s rotations, I don’t see why Portland can’t/won’t do any of those things since their goal clearly isn’t to win. I would say this year’s Portland ~ last year’s Detroit and they ran both Wiseman and Duren at times and alternated starters and their third rotation big was Bagley.
Do you want to be part of the problem or the solution? :P

Just because someone made a strange argument doesn’t mean that it needs to be responded to. I think the five stages of coping explanation makes a lot of sense so maybe we should let those stages take their course and not get in the middle of this grievance blender.
This has been a long time coming. I'm glad it's finally here. I don't look forward to him lurking and shit posting anytime someone has a bad game. This kid will reach y2k and/or justwinbaby territory with his fan girling.
Absolutely incredible that you still act like you don’t know who I am from the old days. And you sure have a lot of nerve telling a moderator to shut up.

Is SpursTalk still active? Last time I went there, it was an unmoderated hellhole where they posted porn and racist/antisemitic memes in main threads.

You mentioned from the old days but never mentioned it was SpursTalk until I told you I didn't remember who you were. I'm not sure how you'd expect for me to remember another user from a different forum I used to post in years ago?

It was a good time period around 2012-2013 to be honest on that forum. No idea what the old man is up to, probably 6 feet under by now would be my guess.

The NBA forum is active, but barely. It's not as active as it used to be when the Spurs were good.

If you consider a few posts a day to be "active." Here's my oldest thread I could find (AIG should like this one): https://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80220 Although my most famous/controversial thread was this one: https://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99995
