Yea agreed, I'm one of the patient well maybe too patient ones but major props to Split for the breakdown. As for Quese and the weight thing that level of complacency is a concern but all we can hope is that Triano's benching earlier n quick hooks for effort/lapses do make him focus more consistently n not just every few gamesMarty [Mori Chu] wrote:That was a great post, Split T. Thanks a lot for that data gathering. Great perspective on how we should be patient with young players and rookies.

I think the discouragement about Chriss is the regression, not the actual numbers. That's what you often see with players--a peak and then they sort of fall back to who they really are. Miles Plumlee comes to mind. Yes, Chriss is young. And we are all hoping that this is just an aberration. But when you combine the regression and the childish attitude on the court, well he sort of reminds me of a 6-10 Archie Goodwin in career trajectory. Hoping not. Hoping that the "conditioning" issue that Triano talked about so much was Chriss and it will be resolved.Split T wrote:Probably a good thing for all of us to remember. Guys like Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard, Blake Griffin, Rudy Gobert and C.J McCollum were all still in college or overseas.
Butler put up 3/1/0 and shot .40/.18/.77 as a 22 year old
Draymond put up 3/3/1 and shot .33/.21/.82 as a 22 year old
Klay was 12/2/2 and shot .44/.41/.87 as a 21 year old
Rudy Gobert put up 2/3/0 and shot .49/.00/.49 as a 21 year old
Andre Iguoudala put up 9/6/3 and shot .49/.33/.74 as a 21 year old
Paul George: 8/4/1 and shot .45/.30/.76
Gordon Hayward: 5/2/1 and shot .49/.47/.71
DeMar Derozan: 8/3/1 and shot .50/.25/.76
Kyle Lowry: 6/3/3 and shot .37/.37/.89
Otto Porter Jr: 2/1/0 and shot .36/.19/.67
Gary Harris: 3/1/1 and shot .30/.20/.75
Jrue Holiday: 14/4/6 and shot .45/.37/.82
Booker: 22/3/3 and shot .42/.36/.83
Chriss: 6/5/1 and shooting .39/.32/.73
Bender: 6/4/1 and shooting .39/.37/.75
Jackson: 9/4/1 and shooting .39/.24/.52
Ulis: 7/2/4 and shot .42/.27/.78
I don't think we know how they're gonna end up yet. Booker looks to be on a good track, the other 4 are to be determined. But I think there is enough precedent for them to still turn into good players.

Tough to develop young players with just yoga and pats on the back. I’m willing to let bygones be bygones and give him a new chance under the new coach.

The more I read about David Fizdale, the more I don't understand his firing. People around the league are almost unanimously coming out and saying he's a great coach, that they can't believe he got fired, etc. Why did they get rid of the guy? Should we try to get him? If so, do we wait until the end of the season?
Re: Suns News: Week 7 11/27-12/3
I know right. I knew they were great but I forgot they were basically top 5 players in the NBA by age 20. Just crazy.BookTheGoat wrote:Split T wrote:Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:I hate Chriss as much as the next guy. But he and Bender (and Ulis, etc.) are still super super young. Re: Suns News: Week 7 11/27-12/3
To be fair, he's only regressed on scoring. His rebound, assist, and block numbers have all increased. I'm not sure what the big difference is as far as scoring goes. Did he regress or is he getting less opportunity? It felt like he had a big dunk every game last year. Those seem to happen much less often this year. Hopefully he's just getting back in shape and he learns his lesson not to get out of shape again.I think the discouragement about Chriss is the regression, not the actual numbers. I am all in on Fizdale. Kerr was raving about him on the Bill Simmons podcast. He seems like the exact type of guy who would gel with Booker too.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:The more I read about David Fizdale, the more I don't understand his firing. That Simmons - Steve Kerr 2-part mailbag podcast was a delight. Kerr is great to listen to; he is candid, humble, and informative. Always shares a few great stories and gives real insight into his team and his process.

How has Fizdale done in developing players? If he doesn't excel at that I don't want him.n4th4n wrote:I am all in on Fizdale. Kerr was raving about him on the Bill Simmons podcast. He and the Grizz overachieved last year. When he was first hired, I read a few quotes where people weren't sure how good a coach he'd be. Some thought he was a "development" guy and a "cheerleader" who was getting a shot after being an assistant for a bunch of years.
