Why did we trade Eric Bledsoe again?

I wonder if/when McD is let go, if Bledsoe will end up being the catalyst, in retrospect.
Holy shit a Charlie Smithy sighting!

Because he’s overpaid for the role he would occupy on the Suns.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:Why did we trade Eric Bledsoe again?
The question should be, why did we give him that contract in the first place? Which would lead to more of the same questions we’ve been circle jerking about over the last 5 years.

I'm not mad we bought him out. I'm mad we gave Bledsoe away for nothing. Buying out Monroe is just the end result of once again screwing everything up with one our players - McD's supposed franchise PG.A bit of an over reaction in regard to Monroe by many folks.
He’s never been a part of any long-term plan for us, and making a deal to match his salary would be a bad move because it would likely put more money on the cap for future seasons. No team is giving up a young asset or pick to acquire him without shedding a bad contract.
The FO treated him well, and that’s something we haven’t had a reputation of doing so much in recent years.
And the more this kind of thing happens, the more Booker's going to look around and say "Do I really want to be here?". You can say that's an overreaction but it's reality. These younger players have learned not to waste their early years with bad orgs.

The first round pick has always been the most valued asset in that trade. That’s not giving Bledsoe away for nothing.ShelC wrote:I'm not mad we bought him out. I'm mad we gave Bledsoe away for nothing.
Monroe’s contract was the most significant reason he was in the deal in the first place. He’s still the same amount of cap relief today as he was last week, so the FO treated him well by allowing him to sign with a playoff team.

Nobody want's Greg Monroe on that contract. Nobody. And the Suns don't need the expiring to take back a contract. We are already under the cap. If we want to trade with Cleveland to take back Shumpert (for example), we still can. No need to send them Monroe.
I really don't see how this hurts the Suns at all.

You aren't wrong about Booker. As long as Sarver is running the show, most players will leave the org in a bad way. All we can do is root for the guys while we have them and pray to strike gold in the draft.ShelC wrote:I'm not mad we bought him out. I'm mad we gave Bledsoe away for nothing. I heard it was because Eric was having a bad day on a hair salon, and McD saw it as the last Straw... or something like that...Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:Why did we trade Eric Bledsoe again?

To be honest, I wish we had never traded Dudley for Bledsoe. I'd like a do over.

With Monroe we could take on more salary than without him. It's just that the front office apparently doesn't want any long-term salary back.O_Gardino wrote:That's some level headed reality right there.Flagrant Fowl wrote:A bit of an over reaction in regard to Monroe by many folks.

Good Lord, are we really clearing cap space to sign Bradley? This is getting kinda scary.Hermen wrote:With Monroe we could take on more salary than without him. The plan has been to clear cap space for a while. They are only willing to take back salary for a significant asset. Nobody is willing to give up a significant asset right now. In nay case, it makes no difference in our plans this summer.Hermen wrote:With Monroe we could take on more salary than without him. From the reaction on this forum, you'd think we had already signed him to a $150 million contract lolO_Gardino wrote:My gut tells me that the Bradley thing is overblown.Cap wrote:Good Lord, are we really clearing cap space to sign Bradley? This is getting kinda scary.

I'm clinging desperately to the notion that McD floated Bradley as a trial balloon to gauge the reaction on phx-suns.net because he's too proud to just ask for our help.n4th4n wrote:From the reaction on this forum, you'd think we had already signed him to a $150 million contract lolO_Gardino wrote:My gut tells me that the Bradley thing is overblown.Cap wrote:Good Lord, are we really clearing cap space to sign Bradley? We gave up what some would call a "pretty good point guard" for him. It's not like the guy is done. HE does alot of things well. He just doesn't fit to what the Suns are trying to do. OR what we hope they are trying to do. Plus his deal is expiring.specialsauce wrote:Seriously. Fans overvaluing our assets. Archie, DJJ, Monroe, etc. nobody is giving anything up for these players. We traded Bledsoe for a middle to late first round pick at best. This is not OK.
