Suns News: Week 19 2/19-2/25

Yeah, I heard those comments on AZ radio. The poll is interesting in that AZCentral article. It's pretty much a 3 way tie between keep him, let him go, and maybe.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

We definitely need a defensive coach if he stays on. And again, for the 761,357,935,609th time, what's our identity as a team? We can't make progress until we figure out who we want to be. And looking at the roster with Payton, Booker, TJ, Jackson, Bender and Chriss as our "core", I have absolutely no clue how we want to play. I think there's a ton of defensive potential with Jackson and Bender. I love the idea of Bender seeing more time at the 5 and growing into that role, but still switching out on perimeter players (how many guys his size can guard Gary Harris at the 3pt line?).
But we have no shooters and our guards upfront aren't great defenders. We're 29th in offensive efficiency, last in defensive efficiency, yet 4th in pace. Now maybe our offensive rating jumps with Payton, or some competent PG, leading the way for a full season. And I'll be interested in seeing how we track the rest of the year in that area. But we need to clearly define how we want to play and stock the roster with those players.

Wasn't Michael Finley #4? Also both Chandler and Gortat have worn it, I believe. I can't remember any others without cheating and Googling.Superbone wrote:Good stuff. I never would have guessed 4 and 10 were the most popular. I seriously can't think of any Suns off the top of my head that wore those numbers.
And as for #10... Barbosa!

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

I think he knows how difficult our schedule is the rest of the year. We won't move that far back in the lotterybajanguy008 wrote:Hmmm.....

We're going to be playing a bunch of guys who aren't even good enough to get into the Rising Stars game. McD doesn't have to worry about engineering losses.

Devin Booker and TJ Warren will win us some games when they catch fire. I just need them to sit one of those two.
Re: Suns News: Week 19 2/19-2/25
Not strategically resting Chandler is a stealth tanking move.
Re: Suns News: Week 19 2/19-2/25
Losing sucks, play to win. Roster still stinks, I'd rather they play hard and win a few extra games instead of looking like a franchise that doesnt care about its players. Again.
Love, Hurts.

1. Waive and stretch Knight
2. Dump Chandler or Dudley
3. Waive Williams
4. Renounce Payton
The easiest way would be to work a sign and trade based around Chriss.
Is Booker-Jackson-Gordon a core worth building around? We'd also have a top 5 pick plus Payton/Warren/Bender.
Payton/Booker/Jackson/Gordon/Ayton with Ulis/Reed/Warren/Bender/Williams.
Would you guys be happy with that roster next year?
Could be talking about the draft, but I think it's more about free agency/trades. This plus the report that we are interested in Aaron Gordon is something.“In some ways, if he’s able to show that consistency that that’ll help dictate what we do or don’t do this summer,” McDonough said.
I fooled around with our cap situation this summer and 2 of 4 of the following would need to happen for us to have cap space to get Gordon. This is assuming we renounce Len.League sources told Sporting News this week that the Suns are expected to be suitors for Gordon, who starred at Arizona for one memorable season. Phoenix has ample cap room and a roster in need of more proven players.

If we did that, what would our cap situation look like in summer of 2019? Are we still able to make a big move?Split T wrote:http://arizonasports.com/story/1434036/ ... se-chriss/

I'm not much of a believer in Gordon. He's having a nice season, but this is his first nice season, and he certainly isn't dominating. His stats prior to this year aren't really that different from what Chriss has given us. He's young, and I'm sure he'll continue to improve a bit, but I think he's mostly a dunker, not a true bball player. I don't think he fits with the kind of team we should be building around Booker/Jackson.
Re: Suns News: Week 19 2/19-2/25
Nope. I'm not much of a fan of Gordon or Ayton. It would certainly be better than what we have now (assuming Ayton is indeed better than Len), but that team tops out as a borderline playoff team, IMO. Can that team be any better than the Clips the last couple of years? No, because it doesn't have enough shooting or defense.Split T wrote:http://arizonasports.com/story/1434036/ ... se-chriss/

No, signing Gordon would take up most the cap space in 2019Indy wrote:If we did that, what would our cap situation look like in summer of 2019? Are we still able to make a big move?Split T wrote:http://arizonasports.com/story/1434036/ ... se-chriss/
