Suns Coach 2018-19

Discussion of the league and of our favorite team.

So who do you want to see as a coach in 2018-19 (and beyond)?

Grass isn't always greener: Triano--What more could you ask with the group of guys we had this year and the development we have seen?

I'd have to say that Kososkov is my favorite at this point.

Thank you Coach Triano for doing the best you could with this rag tag group and situation. Thanks for your service.

Ty Corbin is out too. Good riddance.

I'd go Igor, then Clifford. But that's only because the list is terrible anyway.

You turned one of the worst teams in history around, and got them playing OK when they were healthy. You taught the young guys to play and held tehm as accountable as you could with nobody behind them on the bench.

I mean... yeah, I guess? Triano was at the helm for a bunch of lopsided losses too though.

He was fine as a caretaker on a team going absolutely no where. As myself and many others have said already, I'd love to have him on the bench as an assistant.

This is the only guy that isn't totally "meh".

He's probably the only candidate left I'd be ok with hitching the wagon to

Honest question, do you think his accent will be a problem for the players? It's better than the last time he was here but still pretty thick. It's a little worse than Goran's.

This team is so profoundly mediocre. We can't get any interesting coaching candidates to seriously consider working here. I really doubt Igor Kokoskov is the guy to lead an NBA team to the promised land. He isn't horrible, but he doesn't have a lot of experience and I don't see any strong evidence that he'll be good. Cautiously pessimistic about this coaching search right now.

Thank you Shell.

The list of coaches that are available for hire is horrible.

It is only a question of whom you feel most comfortable with. It really appears that Igor is going to be the choice.

If JVG really wanted to get back into coaching it would seem that he could name his price and get it.
What was the reason to get rid of Monty again? Oh yeah, that guy we drafted rather than Doncic.

If I were a betting man, I would bet on Kokoskov. Remember that Kokoskov was the only assistant that didn't resign over the Lindsay Hunter fiasco. I am absolutely certain that Sarver and McDonough remember this favorably.

Also:
ESPN Sources: Phoenix has removed Jay Triano from consideration for its head coaching position. Triano served as the interim coach. Assistant coach Ty Corbin has been relieved of his duties.
Corbin is gone, but Jay Triano has only been removed from consideration for a head coaching position. I very strongly suspect that Triano will remain as associate head coach (i.e. head assistant), especially if the new hire is Kokoskov or another assistant without his own coaching staff.

Overall, if we're looking at Kokoskov as HC supported by Triano in his proper and natural role, we might be hitting the jackpot. Very much liking how this is looking.

BTW -- it's also been noticed that Kokoskov has yet to be mentioned in relation to any other coaching vacancy. I think that he'll be the hire.

I agree that all signs point to Igor being the choice. I'd feel more positive about him than one of the meh retreads like Kidd or Triano.

McD was in Boston, I doubt he remembers anything about it but was perhaps informed about it during this hiring process.

If it is actually Sarver calling a lot of the shots, then it may not matter what McD knows/doesn’t know about what happened.

He’s the only coaching candidate that’s willing to work for minimum wage and that’s the most important and only characteristic that Sarver looks for in his employees.
