2018 NBA Draft Lottery
Re: 2018 NBA Draft Lottery
Of course the Suns will fuck this up. I have NO idea how you could watch these playoffs and come away thinking, "I'll draft a 7-footer with the first overall pick!"
Go Suns!

Because Ayton and Doncic don’t suck *** like those guys you named.SDC wrote:last time, mcdo was able to acquire bender and chriss... so why not ayton and doncic?
Re: 2018 NBA Draft Lottery
Even a stud like Embiid got destroyed by Boston team which has no big men really besides Horford.carey wrote:Of course the Suns will f*** this up. I have NO idea how you could watch these playoffs and come away thinking, "I'll draft a 7-footer with the first overall pick!"
Bigs aren’t important in today’s NBA except for the PF ones or super mobile ones like Capela.
Re: 2018 NBA Draft Lottery
I trade Jackson and take Doncic if that's what it takes, though I think you can play all 3 together.INFORMER wrote:I also think he'll lean towards Ayton because we already have Booker and Jackson at the 2/3.
Drafting Doncic would take some guts, innovative thinking, and unconventional roster maneuvering. So yeah, it will probably be Ayton.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft Lottery
There is a lot to like about Ayton, but sometimes I watch him and think the NBA game is going to marginalize him to just a solid center that averages a double-double but doesn't really elevate the team, somewhat like what we see from Dwight Howard now.iLLmatic wrote:You stick Doncic at the 1. What maneuvering is required? I still want Doncic over Ayton. Ayton has a bigger bust potential. I'm seeing flashes of Oden and Bowie.INFORMER wrote:I also think he'll lean towards Ayton because we already have Booker and Jackson at the 2/3.

Doncic, on the other hand, just strikes me as a superior basketball player that is going to make his teammates better, hit big shots, and be able to do things few in the NBA can.
I won't be upset with drafting Ayton, but right now I am somewhat skeptical of that being the path that places us in a position to contend.
Re: 2018 NBA Draft Lottery
Why? I get that there is no elite 7 foot bigs left, but that doesn't mean you pass on the big men. Do you think Minny is glad they took Wiggins first over Embiid? Should Minny have taken Russell 1st over Towns? Should the pelicans have taken mkg over AD?carey wrote:Of course the Suns will f*** this up. Re: 2018 NBA Draft Lottery
I don’t think the Suns can F this up if they pick one of those two guys. Both would be great but, then reality sets in. You get one of them or swing a big trade, which seems unlikely. Pick Ayton and work some sort of deal to aquire a real PG. Pick Doncic and go Center shopping.
In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.
Re: 2018 NBA Draft Lottery
I'm not quite there. I don't think today's game definitively rules out a big being a difference-maker on a contender. I just shy away from establishing absolutes like that.carey wrote:Of course the Suns will f*** this up. Re: 2018 NBA Draft Lottery
But let's be accurate here. Davis moves like a small forward. He is a very different prospect than Ayton. Embiid is comparable to Ayton, as is Towns.Split T wrote:Why? Some people point to Houston dominating Towns's Wolves and the Celtics dominating Embiid's Sixes, but I think that isn't an indictment on big men but more so a statement of where their respective teams are in the development process.

Come on, Gladiator.
Re: 2018 NBA Draft Lottery
True, AD is not a good comparison for Ayton. I didn't mean to imply that. Just think the idea that you should always take guards and wings over bigs shouldn't be the case. Doncic is the only non big even worth considering at #1 and he's not a bonafide superstar wing.INFORMER wrote:But let's be accurate here. Davis moves like a small forward. Re: 2018 NBA Draft Lottery
Has Ayton shown he has the ability to be the next Embiid? Even if he does reach that level will that be enough?
I think for a team that wants to start winning you have to go with the proven talent. Ayton may end up being better in the long run but Doncic has proven he can lead a team.

i'm not sure how much the kings and the hawks covet doncic. luka will probably drop to #4, which is just perfect for memphis.INFORMER wrote:Because teams actually covet those prospects.SDC wrote:last time, mcdo was able to acquire bender and chriss... so why not ayton and doncic?
Re: 2018 NBA Draft Lottery
Would you guys trade #1 overall? What would it take?
I'd trade it for Giannis or AD but NO/Mil aren't trading those guys. Would you trade it for KAT? Jokic? Embiid? Simmons? Kawhi? Lillard? Mitchell? Tatum?
Most of those guys are not being moved by their teams, just trying to gauge how we value Ayton/Doncic with probably 9 years control.

The most important thing is how a team plays together, not the pieces that make up the team. That's why Boston will beat Cleveland.

swap picks with the kings then ask for additional compensation.Split T wrote:Would you guys trade #1 overall? What would it take?
