What's your point? I'm just asking you. You really think it's foolish to pick Ayton over Doncic? And as much as I'd like to think that this board is the center of the Suns fan universe, there are other boards that much prefer Ayton. (See ASFN)

Nearly all of ASFN members are UoA alums or longtime Arizona residents so it's not surprising at all that they all prefer Ayton. This is my opinion of course but their viewpoint is biased by Ayton's demographics.

BTW the pick is gonna be Ayton. Gambo put all his credibility on the line with saying it will be him and he did it immediately after the lottery meaning Sarver or someone very close to him has already told him the pick will be Ayton without any hesitation.

Thanks for your response. I'm still undecided. The good thing is that we have the inside scoop on Doncic and that we'll have plenty of time to vet Ayton. I just hope we pick the right one. We won't really know for sure until at least a couple years down the road. Maybe they'll both be great and we would've been fine either way. Time will tell. The lure of a generational big seems hard to pass up though.

I'd put my house down that Vlade doesn't pass on Doncic. That front office and ESPECIALLY that ownership LOVE their Euro players. I can't imagine how happy Vivek Randadive is tonight...Mrs Randadive may get the best sex of their marriage tonight from him.

No way. If I am Sacto, I don't even consider it. Wouldn't even if you added the MIA unprotected pick, Chriss and what not. Makes no sense for the Kings. You are selling them a rebuilding package but nothing tops Doncic/Ayton if you are rebuilding. And if somehow Divac decided he wants to compete, the pick goes to a team that has something stablished already and wants a change of direction. It's even less probable in a three way scenario, as we are clearly the team to be cut out.

Most of that applies to MEM too. Even if they want to go all in with Conley-Gasol, the wise thing if you are the Grizzlies is not trading your premium asset for a bunch of low profile stuff like the ones we are talking about from PHX. If you are tradking that pick, like the #2, you should be aiming at the likes of Love, CJ, Kemba, Drummond, DeRozan... and Westbrook, Kawhi (perhaps Wall) if you have #2.

The body language tells you how inmensely relieved McD got. #3-4 would have been a hard punch and I speculate that it would have forced his hand to do moves he doesn't want to make. Man, things are way easier now. Just pick your guy, go get a couple of good fits around the core of Booker-pick-Jackson (retaining as much cap flexibility as possible) and see how they develop under Kokoskov.

Ya'll need to stop with the fantasy of getting Doncic and Ayton. Also, I can't believe people still believe that "gambling on a Euro" is a thing. That is some pretty regressive s*** right there.

Sorry. Darko and Zarko have left a bad taste in my mouth. Look, I'd rather draft a close to sure thing rare find that's a generational talent at 7ft than gamble that a player may or may not pan out in the NBA in a position that is saturated heavily in the NBA with talent.

I'm there too. Doncic would have been terrific if we got #2, but I can't imagine myself passing on a Booker-Ayton 1-2 punch.

I get the modern NBA, but nobody in the league has such an outside-inside combo. You just need to put shooters and defenders (especial focus on a 3D big man) around those two, since you have another handler in Jackson and even your 6th man in Warren. Climb back to respectability. Make yourself attractive as a franchise again and a third star will want to come. And if either Jackson or Warren develop a respectable 3pt shot, watch out.

I also think he'll lean towards Ayton because we already have Booker and Jackson at the 2/3.

Drafting Doncic would take some guts, innovative thinking, and unconventional roster maneuvering. So yeah, it will probably be Ayton.

You stick Doncic at the 1. What maneuvering is required? I still want Doncic over Ayton. Ayton has a bigger bust potential. I'm seeing flashes of Oden and Bowie.

You need to do something with Jackson, Warren or both, still need to find a 3D PG and revamping the PF/C positions would be imperative, moving one or two of the prospects you spent a couple of lotto pick on. Your defense would be a big concern.

Btw, Oden was a game altering big in the rare occasion he was healthy enough to play.

Of course the Suns will f*** this up. I have NO idea how you could watch these playoffs and come away thinking, "I'll draft a 7-footer with the first overall pick!"

Even a stud like Embiid got destroyed by Boston team which has no big men really besides Horford.

Bigs aren’t important in today’s NBA except for the PF ones or super mobile ones like Capela.

Embiid couldn't guard Horford from the perimeter. Ayton's feet are better and he has not been punished by any injury of note so far in his career.

I guess there is a chance, if Divac feels he is set at PG-SG-SF with Fox, Hield and Bogs (and/or the owner imposes his will), but it would be very extrange seeing him pass on the best european prospect in years.

i've seen all of doncic's games in the eurobasket 2017. anthony randolph had more clutch moments than doncic in that tournament.

The Suns could also select Luka Doncic. The more you read about this kid, the more fascinating he becomes. He lost part of his childhood to basketball, signing to play for Real Madrid at age 13. He’s 6-foot-8, has absurd passing skills and is one of the most polished players Europe has ever produced.

There is plenty of time for drama. Igor Kokoskov, the Suns’ new head coach, masterfully utilized his highly-emotional player, guiding Slovenia to an unexpected title at the EuroBasket tournament last summer. Doncic is too good to bust, like so many other soft European players have in the past. But he won’t find a better landing place than Phoenix, and the pairing would instantly guarantee the Suns another 2.2 million fans — the population of Slovenia.

The choice seems obvious to some. Ayton is the safer pick, and Kokoskov doesn’t have the leverage to stand on a table for Doncic, even though a player nicknamed “Wonder Boy” helped catapult a lifetime assistant to NBA head coach. And remember, Kokoskov wasn’t hired because the Suns wanted to draft the Real Madrid star.

He was hired because he was the best candidate and best fit of all the coaches who didn’t turn down the Suns during their exhaustive coaching search. He would provide additional value if the Suns somehow ended up with Doncic.
