Re: 2018 Suns Pre-draft Workouts
We have lots of assets according to our GM. Maybe it takes JJ/Chriss and a couple of first round unprotected picks and taking back a bad contract. I know it won't be easy but "IMPOSSIBLE", I don't think so. If McDonough never makes an effort then yes it is impossible.Democritus wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 2:54 amTo have Ayton and Doncic in the same draft is simple impossible. I dont think any GM will trade Doncic for JJ and some assets. Certainly we would not trade Doncic for JJ. So why assume others will do it?
What was the reason to get rid of Monty again? Oh yeah, that guy we drafted rather than Doncic.
Re: 2018 Suns Pre-draft Workouts
Thanks carey. Caught the tail end of the Ayton questions.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.
Re: 2018 Suns Pre-draft Workouts
Yes thanks Carey.
This was Ayton's only workout yo. Don't know if that is significant.

Probably not, other than that he's convinced he's going #1.

Good to know. I wouldn't think he'd just make that assumption unless he really doesn't want to play for Sacramento. I'd have to think that the Suns told him as much.

Almost everyone in the world is convinced we are taking Ayton.Superbone wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 1:40 pmGood to know. I wouldn't think he'd just make that assumption unless he really doesn't want to play for Sacramento. I'd have to think that the Suns told him as much.

“Just had a phenomenal 1-on-0 workout,” Suns general manager Ryan McDonough said. “It’s everything that we expected from Deandre.”
Sounds like an Onion headline or quote. And yet it is an actual quote. I'm glad he looked great 1 on 0. I wonder how he looked getting past the stationary cone and scoring at the rim against nobody. He likely did a phenomenal job guarding the air and making contested jump shots over imaginary defenders.

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

LOL. He dominated 0. 0 literally did nothing! However, he didn't make one mistake either. 0 might be a candidate for our 59th pick. Maybe even draft and stash since he doesn't take up any space.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 4:55 pm“Just had a phenomenal 1-on-0 workout,” Suns general manager Ryan McDonough said. “It’s everything that we expected from Deandre.”

+1. Your last line had me cracking up. But really, how can someone even use that line with any sense of seriousness. Had a phenomenal 1 on 0 workout. Just say "he had a phenomenal workout". Maybe he was playing 1 on 1 vs. Marquese Chriss and McDonough had a brain fart?Superbone wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 4:58 pmLOL. He dominated 0. 0 literally did nothing! I hope they at least put a chair out for him to shoot/dunk over.

Round 2 for Holiday, Troy Brown gets his first workout.
Guys I'm still waiting on: Khyri Thomas, Lonnie Walker, Kevin huerter, Donte Divencenzo, Robert Williams. Plus all the guys in the 8-13 range if we move up: the Bridges, zhaire, SGA, Sexton, Trae

Twitter is not happy that Holiday is getting a 2nd workout.

Why? There are other guys I'd prefer to him, but he'd be a pretty solid pick and fills a need. I don't think he's anything special, but he'll shoot, he'll defend his position, and he can play pg.
Ideally we'd have someone who could cover Booker's defensive shortcomings as our pg. That's why I like SGA and Khyri Thomas, although Khyri would have to make some jumps as a playmaker in order to play the 1 on offense.

Re: 2018 Suns Pre-draft Workouts
Real question:
What does Holiday do that Jevon Carter and Jalen Brunson don't do? I just don't have a good feel for guys that far down in the draft.

Brunson also is a little lacking in the athletic department. He's gonna struggle to beat people off the dribble. Crafty player, can spot up, maybe Derek Fisher.
Holiday is the best athlete, has the ability to beat his man off the dribble and is easily the most versatile shooter. Is really an elite shooter.
Re: 2018 Suns Pre-draft Workouts
I see Carter as mostly just a defensive PG. I don't think he adds much offensively. Tops out as Beverley if he can hit the NBA 3.
