a guard or wing should be able to take a 7 footer off the dribble from the perimeter. steve nash does it all the time.

Kristpas Porzingis isn't the plodding 7 footer like Shaq or Gobert or something. He's a unicorn that moves up and down the court like a forward and has the agility of a guard.

it's not difficult for steve nash to take a 7 footer off the dribble and he's slow.

porzingis is more athletic than doncic, but even he will have a hard time guarding a perimeter scorer from the perimeter.
just look at ayton.

doncic usually settles for stepback jumpers because he doesnt have the blow by ability.

Doncic also has size. He's not Nash or Curry or Paul.

And I'm sure Harden's got a quicker first step, but he hardly plays like it. Sometimes it's about positioning, fundamentals, angles, savvy, and having an array of options like that step back to keep defenders guessing and off balance.

You did not see Shaq play in his early career I guess.

You're not, imo. Atlanta is in a full rebuild and really at the start of it. If they thought it was going to take 3-4 more years, you may be able to convince themselves of stock piling picks every year over that time period, but the talent is too good at the top of the draft to do that. They already have 4 picks in the top 34 this year. If they also feel the talent at 16 is nearly as good as 3, then they might think about it. But that is pretty unlikely. More likely is that they pick JJJ and although seeing him as a huge upside, he isn't an immediate large difference maker and more of a project. This will allow them to continue the rebuild without being stuck with middling picks.

That would be ideal but McDonough is enamored with Ayton and Young.

I think the first team that would be open to a trade would be Memphis, but it would require taking on the Parsons contract

I don't think there is any way we trade up to get Doncic. I don't think we are willing to part with Josh Jackson, who would have to be included in any such deal. And I thikn that even if we somehow acquired the #3 or #4 pick, Sacramento will probably take Doncic with their #2 pick anyway. They'd be dumb to pass on him, and they really need a player at his position.

If we are willing to throw a lot on the table, What’s people’s preferred realistic perfect storm?

Is it Ayton and Young?
Doncic and Bamba?
Ayton and MB3?

With so much being thrown around in the press at the moment I’m getting lost in all the ‘what would be the best draft night’ fog.
What we do in life, echoes in eternity.

The Best Doncic scouting video I've seen:

I'm not watching the video, but I'll say this:

Doncic is the unmatched compared to the other prospects in this draft in terms of making his teammates better. And what I love about constructing a team around him is that opens up some many more options in terms of what sort of players can thrive on your team. So all of these small guards that lack point guard ability but can score, or shoot, or defend at an elite level are now viable options because a coach can put Doncic in the front court and start two shooting guards in the backcourt. And for the opponent, that is going to be a nightmare to defend.
I know a lot of folks are not high on Chriss and Bender, rightfully so. However if we add Doncic, everyone should get better not just Booker and Jackson. All four of those guys have shown a willingness to share the ball. The only one that does not share the ball often is Warren and while a legit scorer is the odd man out, IMO. I know the Ayton fans say he shares the ball but he also thinks that he and Booker will be the next Shaq and Kobe. That team did not really share the ball. Fischer was an undersized shooting guard. Shaq pouted when he didn't get his touches and Kobe wanted to shoot every shot. While they won, they could have won more with more ball movement and other teammates contributing more. I really do not want to watch that kind of basketball. Maybe Igor will not allow it and I hope he does if we do in fact draft Ayton.

I just cannot get Doncic off my mind. While Ayton appears to be a legit stud, I am with INFO on this one and really think we would be a better team in the end if we draft Doncic.
What was the reason to get rid of Monty again? Oh yeah, that guy we drafted rather than Doncic.

I'm not worried about Ayton and Booker having the same behavior and attitude as Shaq and Kobe.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

I hope you are correct. However everyone is talking about 20 & 10 over and over again for Ayton. I just hope the rest of the guys stay involved in the offense and we do not just force feed Ayton so he can get his points.
