I would be comfortable moving to 5 where either JJJ or Bamba should be available.
Even to 7-9 where we could draft WCJ.

I'm in the Ayton camp, but lean agnostic. I'm not a die hard militant true believer though. I almost wonder if he is just saying that because he knows that's what people want to hear.

I think I can’t handle too many more pre draft podcasts. The guys essentially repeat the same thing every podcast. Both the monotone hosts have a hardon for Doncic and keep saying that’s the way the league is headed as basically their only argument. Then today they just ripped the shit out of ayton the whole time saying all could do at a good level was rebound. It’s annoying to listen to with zero debate and blog boys enable each other the whole episode. Made it sound like with Ayton we would be getting the next Kwame brown. Talking about how there is no chance ayton will improve on D but hey surely Luka will get more athletic when he comes over ?!?

If the Suns keep all their picks, even though I think it's unlikely, I think there are some nice wing prospects at 16 and decent ball handling guards at 32.
I also like Rawle Alkins in the second round. He needs to be reigned in a bit, but I always admire guys like him who think they're the best player on the floor. He reminds me a bit of Lance Stephenson in that regard.

Haha, yeah I have the same problems with the Locked On Suns podcast. I honestly wish they would try to balance it out but it becomes a bit of onanism when their guests always fall on the Doncic side of the argument. If I couldn't think for myself and got all my draft information from them, I would be so anxious thinking the Suns were about to draft a lesser version of Alex Len or Marcin Gortat, while the next LeBron was going to be available but passed on.

It's about how his biggest weakness could actually become his biggest strength. Sort of in-line with what's being discussed. Doncic is assumed to become more athletic but Ayton will never improve defensively?
His poor defensive numbers weren’t entirely his fault
Because he was forced to chase wings on the perimeter, Ayton struggled at times defensively. For most of his life he played the 5, and you could see how uncomfortable he was away from the basket. There’s a learning curve involved in playing any new role, and he never had the time to adjust.
Ayton looked out of place. He’d often drift towards the paint by nature, and there were open shooters galore for an opposing offense. He was defending the wrong space a lot of the time, and any talented three-point shooting team took advantage of that. Teams will only exploit those mistakes more in the pros.
Had Ayton played a true rim-protector’s role his individual numbers surely would’ve been better — and he probably would’ve been an overall more effective defender.. He’s extremely disciplined around the bucket and knows how to use his length and size. It’s really hard to get a look off over him. It was baffling that Arizona kept him at the 4.
All of Ayton’s mistakes are correctable
Ayton has the body of Hercules on steroids and it’s foolish to think his defensive lapses will be a permanent dilemma. He’s 19 years old, and played one collegiate season for a program under constant scrutiny and disarray while playing out of position. The odds were stacked against him.
Yet he showed flashes of brilliance, and in a 30-something game season, moments can be important. It shows the ceiling a player can reach, and what could be an everyday expectation if developed properly. Ayton had those moments.
When he’s fully engaged and in the right places, Ayton’s proven impressively nimble defending laterally. He can beat guards to the spot and block shots over the rim. All the tools are in his arsenal if a team can teach him where to be and when.

They basically just point out that Ayton didn't block a ton of shots or get many steals in college. No analysis of his actual play, but they do a lot of number crunching to compare him to other prospects.
The thing I learned from the article is that college Block and Steals rates correlate well to the NBA, and rebounding does not. I always thought rebounding was the most reliable college stat. I wasn't, of course, WRONG or anything, I just might have held to an understanding of the game that is more accurate for a few players than for others.

I've said before that I don't think it's likely that either Ayton or Doncic is the best player in this draft. I don't know who that guy is, though. It could be some asshole in the 2nd round, for all I know.

Knox seems to be moving up and I don't think he'll make it to 16. The ringer had him 7th in their latest mock. I don't really want to draft him anyways... He's got great size and he's a nice player in theory, but was pretty underwhelming at Kentucky. He might figure it out and turn into a nice stretch 4 that can defend, I'd take KBD over him though.
I don't know what to think any more. Many of these recent articles tear down Ayton. It is an unknown how well Doncic's skills will translate to the NBA. However, I still think Ayton is the pick. He's got the physical tools and seems like a bright kid so I hope he will be able to improve his shortcomings with good coaching. And like they say, you can't teach height. Here's hoping for the best outcome.
