Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
inf wants to waive lin though... if teodosic is unavailable, lin would make a nice backup pg acquisition.

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
2016 seems forever ago when he was named to the Select Team who were invited to briefly train and scrimmage with the Olympic team. I remember how most if not all of us here were eagerly tuning in to see how our new 19yr old face of the franchise was doing in that environment
. It honestly slipped my mind that the new player pool of guys start training from this summer and I do tend to agree with this tweet even though it will only be for a couple days in July

if the choice is between patrick beverley or milos teodosic
Patrick Beverley
11 Starts, 5 Wins, 6 Losses... clippers were sub .500 when he was playing
https://www.basketball-reference.com/pl ... melog/2018
Milos Teodosic
36 Starts, 29 Wins, 16 Losses... ie clippers had a .644 record when he was on the floor. +13 wins above .500
https://www.basketball-reference.com/pl ... melog/2018
OTOH...
Lou Williams
19 Starts, 42 Wins, 37 Losses... .531

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
That is interesting information, but I don't think a team's W/L record with a particular PG necessarily indicates which PG is better. I'd prefer to look at their individual stats per 36 minutes.
Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
re point guards, individual stats are important, but how a PG affects his team/teammates performance is even more important. and phoenix needs a true point guard, not one who is known more as a defensive specialist that spends most of his time playing off the ball to a de facto PG (harden).Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 1:30 amThat is interesting information, but I don't think a team's W/L record with a particular PG necessarily indicates which PG is better. Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
Dinwiddie's solid and has been coached up by Atkinson but is he a starter or another backup or a backup we think can start?
Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
I'd be interested in VanFleet. His overall stats are so-so, but his RPM is ridiculously good (10th in the NBA). 12-14M per year though is way too high, especially when we're already paying another PG that kind of money. Much better than average defensively and offensively, and spaces the floor with 41.4% 3 point shooting.
Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
According to Peltons estimates, VanFleet is worth about $10-11M, if you expect him to play 32 minutes per night.
Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
Will Van Vleet be able to continue those numbers with increased minutes? I guess I'd rather have Ball if possible or Evans who you possibly don't need to overpay to keep from matching.

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
Fred has a positive DBPM and his VORP is 1.5 which is fairly good for a backup. DWS is 2.0 so he can defend his position which is sorely needed next to Devin.
I don't know if you really get into advanced stuff like CPW but according to Pelton the average cost per win for free agents last year was $2.8M. It's not an exact science because you're worth whatever someone will pay you and the market this year is tight. But with a WS of 4.7 last year that would mean FVV was worth a salary of $13M. I believe that's where people are getting the $12-14M number from.
Edit: Shoot, Worm beat me to it. While I was doing my calculations I hadn't finished reading the thread. I'm sorry buddy.

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
Toronto is kind of over a barrel here. They are currently looking at paying the tax and can only sign him with the ridiculous 9/9/15/15 (or higher on the last 2 years) method. So you have to factor in what $9M would really cost them this year. They don't want to be paying him that kind of money in 2 years unless they dub him Lowry's heir apparent.

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
Sounds good to me. I guess good passes don't make highlight reels. I watched his top 10 highlights from this last season and it was him hitting a bunch of buzzer beaters and bombs. What would it take to get him?
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
Not a surprise...he can come back at the minimum if he wants...do we think there is a market for him? Be interesting if he's on our summer league team.
Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
From everything I've seen and heard about Booker, he's going to be showing the other guys how to put in work.bajanguy008 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 12:41 am2016 seems forever ago when he was named to the Select Team who were invited to briefly train and scrimmage with the Olympic team. Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
I think we're eventually waiving Reed, Williams, and Harrison too
PG Knight, Okobo
SG Booker, Daniels
SF Jackson, Warren, Bridges
PF Bender, Chriss, Dudley
C Ayton, Chandler
Two way - King and Peters?
We've got 3 roster spots open, gonna be a fascinating summer as I doubt those 12 gauranteed contracts are all on the roster come fall.

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
I've changed my mind. I'd honestly rather not have Ulis back. He continued to create shots for himself, and he never figured out a way to get the other guys involved consistently. Plus, he has been our starter for 2 seasons of tanking. I don't know how guys like Warren (or whoever is left) is going to feel about getting back on the court with him.
