Re: Summer League 2018
Yea I don't care about SL championships, I can about how good Okobo, Bender, Ayton and Bridges look. If Ayton looks like Robin Lopez did, we're in trouble. If Bender isn't averaging like 15-17ppg and 6-7 boards, we're in trouble. If Bridges isn't defending or hitting 3s, we're in trouble.
Re: Summer League 2018
It'd be nice if they looked great, but we're not in trouble if they struggle. Summer league is notoriously a terrible predictor of NBA success. Better that they succeed, but I'm not drawing conclusions based on rookie performances in summer league... Bender, on the other hand, better do well.

No, but I am the guy that plays a level on a video game, sees a more optimal way to play it, and starts the level over to play it the best way.JCSunsfan wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 7:55 amNah. I won't harp on this much, because I'm very happy with Bridges and I think Ayton will be a good scorer and rebounder. But man that would have been a perfect draft to get both of those guys.

Or risk him getting outplayed by undrafted rookies in the SL.

Re: Summer League 2018
Then we are in trouble. Bender is not going to average that. There are too many good players on our team for all those points and minutes to go to him. I want to see defensive activity, offensive aggressiveness, and efficiency with Bender. That is enough.ShelC wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 7:59 amYea I don't care about SL championships, I can about how good Okobo, Bender, Ayton and Bridges look. Re: Summer League 2018
24/11 from Derrick Jones Jr yesterday in summer league. Also went 4/5 from 3...would love to see him succeed...kinda wish we still had him rather than Reed or King
Re: Summer League 2018
I agree. Loved watching Airplane Mode get into action, and I thought he was improving as a defender and shooter. Didn't really understand it when it happened.

Re: Summer League 2018
Is this true? I didn't know. What are the limits? The Bobster wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 6:01 amThere are limits on how many veterans can play in the SL, you can get around it if they played in the D-League or were injured part of the previous season, but they might have wanted Bender and other players there instead.

Re: Summer League 2018
Might be a good guy for Houston to pickup to help fill the void left by Ariza. To be honest, he is more equipped to man the 4 than Ariza is. Jones sticking point has been his shot. If he has worked on that and can be a reliable 3-point shooter, he'll definitely help a team.
Houston, though, is looking at James Nunnally.
Re: Summer League 2018
Think Miami actually gave Jones a 2 year deal a few days ago
Re: Summer League 2018
You're right.
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miam ... story.htmlAlready respected for his defense, a component that opened the door to 14 appearances and eight starts after joining the Heat on New Year's Eve last season, Jones turned his offseason priorities to a more muscled physique and a more efficient shooting stroke.
Then came his first summer-league appearance in a Heat uniform, during the opening game of the California Classic at Golden 1 Center.
The shot was true. The body was stronger.
...
The Heat appreciated the strides to the point of signing Jones to a two-year standard contract Sunday, guaranteeing a $1.5 million salary for the coming season
Re: Summer League 2018
I was sad that we didn't keep Jones Jr. He seemed like he had talent and tons of athleticism and energy.
Re: Summer League 2018
We waived him so we could keep Mike James.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 4:19 pmI was sad that we didn't keep Jones Jr. He seemed like he had talent and tons of athleticism and energy.
Re: Summer League 2018
Young again cannot make a shot.
Re: Summer League 2018
We needed a point guard and we didn't need a small forward. That's how it goes sometimes.Shabazz wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 4:23 pmWe waived him so we could keep Mike James.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 4:19 pmI was sad that we didn't keep Jones Jr. He seemed like he had talent and tons of athleticism and energy.

Re: Summer League 2018
Damn you! I'd rather not know that. However, we really don't need any more forwards.Shabazz wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 4:23 pmWe waived him so we could keep Mike James.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 4:19 pmI was sad that we didn't keep Jones Jr. He seemed like he had talent and tons of athleticism and energy.

Trae Young is currently shooting below 20% in Summer League.

Send me a PM if you're interested in joining the phx-suns.net fantasy basketball league.
