Around the League: 2018 Offseason
Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
That is an insane deal to me. I just dont get it. Injury prone, can't shoot a lick, isn't really even a PG, insanity.
Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
I really don't think it's that bad of a deal.
Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
Dante Exum has done nothing in the NBA, and he's missed as many games as he's played. 33m for potential is bonkers to me.

We wouldn’t be struggling to make the playoffs if we had (a close to 100% healthy) Cousins at PF. We would be the 6 seed.O_Gardino wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 2:29 pmTrue .neter at heart when your first post is slamming a star on another team while pimping a role player on ours. Boogie is widely known for putting up meaningless stats, cancer in the locker room, and doesn’t play D. We don’t need Ayton to develop that way.JeremyG wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 1:12 pmThis is disgusting. Suns could have had him for 1 year/15 million easily. Ariza is a winner. He brings heart and skill to our developing wings.
I agree about Cousins. I think he's a great fit for a winning team, but I think he's trouble if you are struggling to make the playoffs.

But that's not the exact conversation. I wasn't even talking about Mirotic. The tweet was claiming the Hornets sucked with Cousins and implied that just by him having him out of the lineup, they got better. That isn't even close to being accurate.
Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
There has to be some non-guaranteed money involved. That's a serious investment for a completely unproven player.

He is projected to return until december, and if he isn’t motivated to do it, maybe until january. After all, he would be looking to showcase himself as healthy enough for that next contract, so he only needs to play the last couple months. I definitely don’t want us to be the sucker that pays for his rehabilitation and then borrow him a stage for his audition tour, a waste for everyone on the team but Cousins.JeremyG wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 1:12 pmThis is disgusting. The Pelicans, you mean? And also, Boogie's injury occured January 26th and Mirotic was acquired February 1st. So do you mean the 5 days of games Cousins was hurt and the Pels had yet to trade for Nikola?INFORMER wrote:But that's not the exact conversation. I wasn't even talking about Mirotic. You can't make the argument that Mirotic is irrelevant to the point because he got there immediately after & their play immediately improved.

Maybe they should have just kept and paid Harden. Just a thought...

Also, I want no part of Cousins, we have Ayton.

Why? They got Kevin Martin and a whole bunch of really good draft picks. While losing that huge salary the Kevin Durant demands.
It would have been just awful to have a core of Durant, Westbrook and Harden.
What was the reason to get rid of Monty again? Oh yeah, that guy we drafted rather than Doncic.

Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
Cousins only makes sense in GS. If a team like the Suns were to sign him, they'd only have him for 1 year. Because we'd still need cap room next year to be able to retain him. Zach Lowe explains this on his podcast really well. He needed a team that had a open roster spot for a center that would be good and really only cared about next year. His other option would have been Houston, but he wasn't going to start over Capela. Boston maybe? But again not starting over Horford.
