I didn't say it well, but I just meant to express disgust with the proposal. 4 assets for an ok starting PG? you would need to start tanking again to build back the stockpile of assets. And you could, since Rozier isn't that good.

I just don't think Bender/Mil 1st/2nd round pick is much value. I'm not counting on much of anything from those assets. I'm not big on Rozier either, but he's the only young PG who's shown something that seems to be available.
Rozier/Harrison
Booker/Melton
Jackson/Reed
Warren/Bridges
Ayton/Holmes
That's not a barren cupboard. That's 10 guys 24 and under with potential.

Re: Suns Trade Knight and Chriss for Anderson and Melton
I don't know if I'd give up big assets to get Rozier. He had a nice run at the end of this past season, but he seems like a shoot-first guy to me, and he's undersized. He's also at a high water mark in terms of his value right now, so I don't think we'd get him for a good deal presently. I don't hate him as a player, I just don't know that I would give up a lot (such as 1st rounders and valuable younglings like Bender) to get him.
Re: Suns Trade Knight and Chriss for Anderson and Melton
I don't think anyone looks at Bender as a valuable youngling
Re: Suns Trade Knight and Chriss for Anderson and Melton
With Anderson adjusting his salary this is effectively knight for Anderson and I'm fine with that... Chris for Melton we might regret ine day but it's the right. Move for us right now.

Except I didn't say that... I said he's the only one available who's shown something. I am ok with the trade. We have all been wanting to get rid of Knight for a long time and Chriss has been very underwhelming.
Still we need a pg. From what I have read this off season it seems the Suns are willing to limp through this year and grab “the guy” next year. If that is the case then I hope they don’t do something dumb and give up too much this year just to get a decent guy that really isn’t “the guy”.

In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.

Re: Suns Trade Knight and Chriss for Anderson and Melton
This was a boss move the more I think about it.Ryan McD stole the draft. We have two very good 1st round quality rookies who can run the point, a starting quality 3amd D wing in addition to drafting Ayton. Melton was a beast in summer league. Igor is probably going to run booker as the lead guard alongside Bridges and Jackson. Come mid season we will see how Okobo and Melton steal minutes.
I’m not even sure Rozier will be that desirable at that point. Brad Stevens makes his guards look good.

You make the numbers specific enough and you can get them to tell you lots of things, but still kinda cool. Wouldn't mind if we picked up Fultz

I like dragic, and his 13-14 season was fantastic but I don't get the crazy amount of love he gets on here... Is it just because we've had so much crap at the PG position since Nash left?
Dragic is nice, but he's past his prime and outside of 1 season has never been an all star level PG. And that was 13-14, not last year when he made it because 5 people got hurt.

Dragic is absurdly overrated by a select few around here.

Probably a solid, if unspectacular, trade for both teams. Sure, I think we could use an upgrade or a veteran stopgap at PG, but I think between Shaq and Okobo, our PG situation isn't really all that bad. I have really high expectations/hope for Okobo.

Re: Suns Trade Knight and Chriss for Anderson and Melton
What they do at point guard should be determined by what the reasonable expectations for this team are.
If adding a veteran point guard would make then a legitimate playoff contender then I could understand it, but I don't think anyone short of a top-notch guard like Lillard is going to move the needle enough to make this a playoff team.
So they should probably look more toward either acquiring someone who will grow into the job (like they did when they traded for Kevin Johnson) or give the minutes to players like Okobo and Melton and live with their growing pains.

Re: Suns Trade Knight and Chriss for Anderson and Melton
Was out of commission yesterday so a little late to the party. I'll echo what a lot have said here:
I think this is more or less addition by subtraction. Chriss had no future here and I think a lot of us anticipated a trade prior to the season. Good riddance. I'm sure on the surface general fans will say we got hosed because Chriss is a young, athletic big with potential but we know the truth. Not a high IQ player, questionable motor, immature. Maybe he'll turn the corner in Houston, maybe he'll look better next to Paul and Harden and the game will be easier. But it wasn't happening here.
Knight...I was still intrigued by what he could have brought this season but best to cut bait early and not get into a bad situation with a disgruntled player - again. So at least McD has learned from some of his mistakes. Plus Gambo said he had a cleanup 6 weeks ago and probably wouldn't be ready for training camp but would be ready for the season. It'll be interesting to see how he plays this season.
Anderson I feel has always been a target for us. He's fallen off the past two seasons but we desperately need his shooting, regardless. I'd like to see him get into better shape with our training staff and really have a bounce back season. The question is rotational fit. Does he take minutes from Bender and/or Ariza? Wasn't Ariza signed to be our "defensive, floor spreading PF"? Now McD says Anderson is our starting PF, as per Woj. Would we still have signed Ariza had we known Anderson would be brought over in a trade? Did we promise Ariza a starting job? Thought he was our starting PF heading into the season.
Melton, as others have said, seems a bit redundant with Shaq on the roster. He was one of the breakout stars of SL and has a ton of potential. Looks physically ready to play, is already a great defender and looked to be a better shooter this summer. He's still more of a combo guard tho, so now we essentially have 3 of those in Shaq, Melton and Okobo, none of whom are the starters we need. McD loves his redundancy.
And oh yea, we're "aggressively" going after a veteran PG like Kemba, Lillard or Rozier. It's actually kinda embarrassing that McD thinks he can approach those teams with our current assets which are essentially Warren, Chandler, Bender, Jackson and draft picks. Ain't happening.
Overall I give the trade a C. Again, addition by subtraction. Maybe Melton turns into a player and Anderson regains his shooting form. Then it could be a B. Right now tho this kind of trade makes the Ariza signing look worse IMO.

kemba is a rental, so charlotte shouldnt expect much.
Re: Suns Trade Knight and Chriss for Anderson and Melton
I think I'd just try and get Darren Collison from Indy. He's a 1 year rental who led the league in 3 pt shooting. He's steady, doesn't need the ball, defends his position. That gives us time to evaluate Okobo/Melton/Shaq and not throw them to the wolves this year.
The question is if Indy would be interested. Collison was nice for them, and while they acquired essentially a Collison clone in Holiday, they may not want to throw him into the starting lineup yet. Still, they also have Cory Joseph and Tyreke Evans who can run the point.
