Suns Trade Knight and Chriss for Anderson and Melton
Re: Suns Trade Knight and Chriss for Anderson and Melton
Gambo yesterday singlehandedly started a dragic rumor on a throwaway tweet...

And here. We. Go.
Re: Suns Trade Knight and Chriss for Anderson and Melton
SDC, is there a PG out there that you'd be interested in the Suns acquiring?
Re: Suns Trade Knight and Chriss for Anderson and Melton
I like Shaq too, but Melton definitely has more upside. Melton could end up being a stud.

i realize it will take much more that what some here want to offer to get dragic. wade wants to return to miami, and i'm assuming he wants to make the playoffs one last time. ellington re-signed instead of playing elsewhere because he enjoyed playing with this group. trading away dragic doesnt make sense for them unless phoenix offers something really good and acceptable.
miami wants to get rid of some big contracts so they can sign wade and not pay too much tax. james johnson, tj, dion waiters, hassan whiteside.
dragic isnt untradable, but it has to make sense for them in terms of compensation.

Agreed. Still one forward too many expecting to get minutes, but at least now we don't have to see Chriss. Ariza is the natural odd man out, but my fingers would be itching about Jackson. His SL play was terrifying and I don't want to end up having just another Justise Winslow or MKG. Overall the roster is still a work in progress but man it feels nice to get rid of Knight and Chriss.

His value is in making the team competitive by what he can bring talent wise and having played For Igor. His aging helps the team develop our youth as a veteran and not needing to play more than 30mpg after a year or 2. The Suns have sucked at developing youth for a long time. You need competitive veterans who facilitate the teams success to develop other players. It isn’t about just hiring shooting coaches and former big men assistant coaches.Split T wrote: ↑Sat Sep 01, 2018 3:23 pmSuperbone wrote: ↑Sat Sep 01, 2018 2:49 pmWell you and FF for starters. THE missing piece? I'm not reading that. He is better than average. End of his prime is debatable. How many more years did Nash play? Dragic keeps himself in very good shape from what I see. He would help us elevate our win totals in Igor's system. No doubt in my mind.
Maybe I should have said average starting PG. There's probably 12-13 guys I'd take over him. Dragic is 32, and has seen a drop in productivity. Mostly in his ability to get to the rim and finish. His 2pt% has dropped from pretty significantly since 13-14. He's still a solid player and he would definitely help us this year, but I wouldn't pay him 19 million next year. That money could be used much more effectively to find someone who will overlap more with the rest of our teams prime.
And there's been a love fest with dragic on this board for awhile. Maybe I exaggerated a bit, possibly because I just read an article by Dave King calling dragic his dream PG target. Still, I think quite a few on this board think he's better than he actually is.
Re: Suns Trade Knight and Chriss for Anderson and Melton
The more I think about this roster the more I'm convinced that it is crappy. We have way too many 3s and undersized 4s, and we don't have a starting PG. Getting rid of Chriss and Knight, great, but then we acquire a guy in Anderson who doesn't fit. What is our forward rotation? Who starts? How do we find minutes for all these guys? Why did we sign Trevor Ariza for huge money?? Why do we want to pay almost $20m to a nearly washed up Ryan Anderson? Why do we have like 4 PGs on the roster who can't legally buy a beer? What do we think we are doing with Bender?
I am not sure that McDo and the front office actually have a plan here.

I agree with that, but I don't think you have to pay Dragic's salary to get that kind of leadership.Drewsprocket wrote: ↑Mon Sep 03, 2018 9:09 amHis value is in making the team competitive by what he can bring talent wise and having played For Igor. I am not sure that McDo and the front office actually have a plan here.

And no, I don't think Ryan has a plan.

I'm just thankful we didn't hold onto Chriss longer than we should have.. See Markieff Morris.INFORMER wrote: ↑Mon Sep 03, 2018 10:07 amMarty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Mon Sep 03, 2018 9:12 amThe more I think about this roster the more I'm convinced that it is crappy.

I am not sure that McDo and the front office actually have a plan here.I hear you Mori. Ultimately, I take comfort in having Devin Booker. And I think we have some really good prospects in Melton and Okobo. Everything else at best for me is a question mark.
And no, I don't think Ryan has a plan.
It seems like Ryan enjoys obtaining assets and selling them less than what we bought them for.

McD still hasn't shown the ability to form a balanced roster where players' skills complement each other on the floor. It's absolutely infuriating and frustrating.

All of you guys are putting the cart before the horse. Let's see what we have. We have a new coach to put it all together. How about a little patience and cut down on all the doom and gloom before the team has even played a minute? Nah. Why change now? Back to your pity party...

Sorry 'bone, no doom and gloom here. And no one is asking for pity. Just voicing legitimate concerns and simple analysis. Sorry it isn't a lovefest.

It is quite the opposite of a love fest which nobody asked for by the way. Doesn't sound very balanced. But please, continue...
