The trade did end up being for less than I thought, but 4 2nd round picks isn’t nothing. We did essentially what you said last year with Payton for a 2nd round pick.specialsauce wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 10:58 amYou get a chance to evaluate his fit with Ayton for the rest of the year and resign him. I would absolutely be for it. What is the point of waiting? What are we waiting for? They got him for a bag of dicks. I’m sure Sarver has plenty of those sitting around to offer.Split T wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 10:56 amThere is zero point to trading for Mirotic. He’s an unrestricted free agent. 11 win teams don’t make 30 game rental trades. That would be very dumb.specialsauce wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 10:54 amMirotic to Milwaukee.
Are we even f*** trying? Is anybody in the office? Or does James Jones strictly work to do favors for other teams and players.
With Mirotic, we would have had to match salaries...maybe Bender + Daniels gets us close enough, but I’m not sure. And then the 4 2nd round picks isn’t ideal. Those aren’t without value. Plus Stanley Johnson has been mostly a bust, but he’s a young player who could still maybe turn into something.
If we want Mirotic, we can still sign him this off season.

Disagree, 4 second round picks is nothing. We had a billion of those too at one point and did nothing with them. Plus any Bucks 2nd rounder is going to be at the end of the draft so it's really the least valuable asset you can give up.

Just crazy amounts of shooting around Giannis. Scary team...I think they are my favorite to come out of the east.
Also, does anyone else think the east has better teams to beat the warriors than the west does? I’d take bucks, raptors, sixers, and Celtics over nuggets, Thunder, rockets, blazers

2 of the 2nd rounders were wizards picks in 2020 and 2021. Those could be pretty good.

Re: 2019 NBA Trade Deadline
It’s absolutely nothing to most people except draft enthusiasts. Those are the same people who buy scratchers for 10 years to win $100 one time. Second round picks are almost always trash and they take up roster spots and salary cap space. It’s an opportunity cost. I would trade a pick that has a 10% chance of ending up as a future 8th man and a 1% chance at being an All-Star any day of the week for a player who is guaranteed to be a contributor.
Re: 2019 NBA Trade Deadline
Top 7-10 picks in the 2nd round hold value IMO.

Did Stauskas get traded 3 times this past week?

We drafted Bender and Len 4th and 5th, respectively.

Re: 2019 NBA Trade Deadline
Out of 150 picks in 5 years, that’s your list. Outside of Jokic and Dinwiddie, nobody else is more talented than Mirotic. Brogdon is solid. The rest are a bunch of 7th-8th men at best. Some of those players you listed belong in the G league. That’s your ceiling!Split T wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 11:31 amJust a few 2nd round picks in the last 5 yearsspecialsauce wrote: ↑Thu Feb 07, 2019 11:19 amIt’s absolutely nothing to most people except draft enthusiasts. Re: 2019 NBA Trade Deadline
Post of the day.
Also when we talked about this a few weeks ago, it turned out about 50% of 1st round picks end up being productive NBA players. 17% of 2nd round picks. So you need, on average, 2 bites at the 1st round apple gets you a good NBA player. For the 2nd round, that is 6 picks. You don't give up 4 2nd rounders (especially when those will be early in the 2nd round) for 30 games of an UFA when you have a .200 winning percentage.
