Who would name their team a Pelican?
In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.

It’s quite intimidating, to fish.

Well Sarver has always seemed fishy to me. Does that count?

There has been a New Orleans Pelicans minor league baseball team as far back as 1887 and the name was used by the city's minor baseball league entries until 1993 when they were renamed the Zephyrs.
The pelican is also the state bird of Louisiana and appears on their state seal and the state flag.
Here are some unique minor league baseball names that were used by major cities when they were minor league -
Atlanta Crackers
Dallas Steers
Denver Bears
Houston Buffaloes
Kansas City Blues
Memphis Chickasaws
Minneapolis Millers
New Orleans Pelicans
Oakland Oaks
Oklahoma City 89ers
Portland Beavers
San Antonio Missions
San Francisco Seals
Seattle Rainiers
Tampa Tarpons

Pelicants amirite?
Re: Game Day: Pelicans (27-36) @ Suns (12-50), Fri 3/1/19
The only reason they changed their name to Pelicans and not something more New Orleans sounding is because Benson already owned the name rights. I thought they should be called the New Orleans Brass. But there was a minor league hockey team that still owned the naming rights to that. The Bobster wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2019 3:05 pmThere has been a New Orleans Pelicans minor league baseball team as far back as 1887 and the name was used by the city's minor baseball league entries until 1993 when they were renamed the Zephyrs.

These "LOS SUNS" uniforms are the worst.
The shade of people they used for them is awful.

Dragan was big in setting the tone early, looked really impressive. Good first half but sloppy finish. We should be further up
