And that's fine, but I wouldn't grab him at 3 or 4 or 5 if he's projected to go 12-20 or even later. Same with Hunter or Washington. Hunter I don't love as much as a potential starting PF but I like that kind of 6-7ish power swing. All 3 could be nice fits next to Ayton, just want to grab the right guy at the right spot.I still like Clarke the best if we don’t land top 2. I get Marion vibes with him. The athleticism, ability to defend everyone, ugly jumpshot. I just think he’ll be a guy that doesn’t demand the ball, but does so many good things offensively and defensively.
2019 NBA Draft Thread
Re: 2019 NBA Draft Thread
Yea, as of right now Clarke seems to be a lower 1st round pick. He may rise as the draft gets closer. I always say take the guy you want regardless of draft position but if we were to get Memphis' pick at 7 or 8, I may try and flip that to Brooklyn for their 16th and 27th or even 16th and 31st, take Clarke at 16 (assuming he's there), then do whatever with the later pick. BPA or even sell it for cash. Boston also has multiple 1sts so maybe we can grab 14 and 22 from them for the Memphis pick.
Re: 2019 NBA Draft Thread
Unless Memphis jumps into the top 4, the pick is going to Boston.
I do think that Clarke is going to rise in this draft, but of course teams like potential more with much younger players.

I think Clarke has risen. He’s in the lottery in ESPN’s latest mock.ShelC wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 9:48 amYea, as of right now Clarke seems to be a lower 1st round pick. Re: 2019 NBA Draft Thread
Not necessarily true. Memphis, Dallas, and New Orleans tied for the 7/8/9 spot. Memphis keeps the pick if its top 8
Re: 2019 NBA Draft Thread
That's true, I guess we'll find out. Isn't today the day they do the tie breakers?

I believe so
Re: 2019 NBA Draft Thread
So we can fall to 7 if 4 teams jump us
Re: 2019 NBA Draft Thread
What's the history of the 7th pick?

Re: 2019 NBA Draft Thread
Isn't 6th, historically speaking, the worst position?

Re: 2019 NBA Draft Thread
I have no idea...but that’s just mostly coincidental

7th pick:
Kevin Johnson, Luol Deng, Steph Curry, Julius Randle, Jamal Murray, Markkanen

That's why trading the pick is dumb.carey wrote: ↑Fri Apr 12, 2019 7:33 amIt's still top 2 or bust for me at this point. The only issue is if we are in the 3-7 range and open for business what can we reasonably expect as a return? I know things are fluid. What is seen as a weak draft now could change when teams start really digging into the draft and having guys workout. Or the common perception that the third tier is rather lengthy could hold. If teams would be happy with any of a dozen guys in tier 3 that certainly diminishes the value of the pick as I think several teams will be trying to trade down and pick up assets.
Re: 2019 NBA Draft Thread
There are scenarios where Morant drops to 4 as well. I don't think Atlanta would take him if they leapfrog us. Would New Orleans? Cleveland?
Re: 2019 NBA Draft Thread
I could see Cleveland wanting to run Morant and Sexton in the backcourt together. New Orleans would definitely go with Morant; they love playing Jrue Holiday with another point guard, and Morant is a significant upgrade over Payton.

Sure...mostly just meant that he was the #1 rated pg coming into the season.
