To me the case for keeping Jackson is twofold:

- He's (sort of) an asset, and we won't get much value for that asset right now. Perhaps we can wait and throw him into a trade or wait until some team wants to give us something for him later.

- He might still be playable in a different role. Maybe he could be a backup ballhandler who would run our offense when our starting PG is out, rather than as an SF. Or maybe this summer he hits the gym really hard and works on his game and comes into next season with some improved skills that make him better.

I do agree that we don't have a huge role for him right now, and that at SF I'd rather see Oubre and Bridges as our two SFs in the rotation.

If anybody could turn Jackson around, it would be Williams and his staff. I'm looking at it from a personal level. I get the impression Jackson hasn't had much of a father figure in his life. He needs some hard and fast rules on and off the court. He's got skills but they're all over the place and out of control. If we move on from him, so be it, wasted #4 and a huge miss not drafting Fox. However, there might be something salvageable here.

I truly have when we need to cling onto a projection of what we want a player to become, ignoring the fact that for two years said player has been beyond terrible.

New coach every year, massive front office turnover, marked improvement the second half of each year after some stability has been put into place. Being asked to be the alpha when it's clear that this causes him to resort to inefficient and boneheaded on-court play.

Yes, he's shown some horrible judgment at times. Isn't it a bit early to judge?

I'd like to see what the new coaching staff can do with Jackson before discarding him.

We won't get anything for Jackson right now, so there isn't much motivation to trade him. And I don't think he's toxic enough that we should just waive him outright.

We have NO IDEA what his upside will be. And he's flashed plenty -- it's not like he hasn't had nights where he has made people go WOW. The problem is having his head screwed on right and consistency. These are the kinds of things that young players grow out of...with the right coaching and support.

As to your question, I was told not to talk about [censored].

I like several of the PFs in this draft. I think we could trade down and be happy with whatever PF is at the top of our board where we select. If we stay where we are, BPA is probably either Culver (who doesn't fit) or [censored], though I suspect in a few years, Bazley or Kabengele might be the player we wish we'd have taken.

Not a fan of the PGs at the top of this class. Seem like real gambles, and we should not be in the gambling mood. [Censored] seems like the safest pick, despite his T-Rex arms, since I think statistical production in college/Euroleague is the best single indicator of future performance.

... Watching these finals, I can't help but wonder how much GSW would be improved by having TJ Warren out there. He's no KD, but he'll also be about 1/4 the cost. He'll be about 1/3 of what Middleton costs, if MIL wants to keep their other free agents. I don't see how we don't get a decent offer for him this summer -- and I also don't see how we keep him, given his evident dissatisfaction with this FO, and our FO's reluctance to mention our second-leading scorer.

How would you feel if we drafted Culver at #6?

I'll wait for Informer's analysis, but I'm starting to be a believer after seeing these two analyses:

If he grows two more inches, a Kevin Love or a Draymond. If he can shoot a bit better, a Steve Smith or a Joe Johnson. If he projects lower, an Evan Turner or a Jalen Rose.

If we needed a home run (i.e. a potential superstar), he's likely to disappoint unless he grows into being the 6'10" PF. But if we want a player with a great feel for the game that would be a great complement to Booker and Ayton? Absolutely.

Come to think about it -- Joe Johnson would make a fantastic PF in today's game.
