I can't blame NOP for accepting that trade. Davis didn't want to be there, he wanted to be in LA, and that's quite a haul of picks and young players. The only real downside is the Ingram injury, but he's young and he'll heal. And they can be young and bad/mediocre this year and get another lottery pick. Great future for that team.

Yea that's prob the best deal they were going to get minus Kuz. And you're not getting other teams' best offers if AD is gonna leave.

Jrue/Lonzo/Hart/Ingram/Zion plus whoever they draft at 4. My initial guess is they’d look at Garland or Hunter. They should want shooters. They may look to move the pick...could they move the first round picks for Beal?

Lakers will be very good and probably the favorite for the title. Have space to fill out the team as well. They could go after a max guy like Kemba or they could just split it up between multiple players and build an actual roster. They will need some guards that can shoot.

What an AWFUL deal for the Pelicans. Just awful.

They got 2 washed PGs, a player who's career will end in the next 2 years (Ingram) when he develops another clot, and 3 unknowns for the best big man in the league.

Awful. The player they should have targeted was Kuzma at least.

I think the Pelicans got a great haul. They got a bunch of high picks and young assets for a guy who wanted out and would have left in a year.

Kuzma's not really anything special either.

What they basically had to trade was 1 year of Anthony Davis, because he wasn't going to be there any longer than that - and Boston probably wasn't offering anything better.

There's no guarantee he'll re-sign with the Lakers, right now they have two stars and nothing of consequence around them.

Huh? Ball is the only pg in this trade. Hart is a very solid role player.

Ingram is very risky as you mentioned, but he’s a good basketball player if his health checks out.

3 1sts, including #4 isn’t nothing. They have a lot of assets now that they can use and develop slowly, or package to get better quicker.

Remember, they have their star in Zion and a very good vet guard in Jrue. What if they can package the picks for Beal?

Jrue/Beal/Ingram/Zion is a fantastic core.

I agree they should have pushed for Kuzma as I think he was the best LA asset, but this isn’t an awful trade.

This opens up Garland for Suns unless NOP trade #4 which I hear is their preference.
Go Suns!

New Orleans will also have about 19 million in cap space now.

"assets."

By that argument, Bender and Chriss are still assets. So is Josh Jackson.

Trash is trash. Ball and Hart are hardly premium assets. Who knows where those first round picks will lie. I have a hard time believing they couldn't get Kuzma instead of Ingram at least.

Ingram won't check out fine. He got a clot likely from traveling. That will continue. Guys aren't just prone one time to clotting unless it is after a surgery. When you have a propensity for clotting, that will continue for your life. One of these days on his cross country flights his blood will clot again and he will be out of the league.

Unless they put a treadmill on the plane for him and keep him moving.

OR!!

New Orleans drafts Garland. Now they have Garland and Ball. Prime chance to take Jrue. Offer Jackson, Warren, our #6 and our top 3 protected first round pick next year.

They actually think his clot was a result of thoracic outlet syndrome. He had surgery to fix the issue. If true, he may not be as at risk as a guy like Bosh.

I was reading that they really want to keep Jrue and build around him.

I have a feeling this might be happening. With Duane Rankin reporting us going after Deandre Hunter, it would fit that we feel confident about pg in free agency. Russell can easily tell Booker he wants to come here and Booker passes that message along. We still have to clear the cap space, but that can be done fairly easily if need be.
