Here’s a thought, and I’m not saying we’ll be better than the spurs, but based on players alone, which roster would you rather have?

Booker or Derozan?
Ayton or Aldridge?
Saric or Gay?
Rubio or Murray?
Bridges or White?
Oubre or Carroll?
Johnson or Mills?
Baynes or Poeltl?

It’s pretty even from a talent standpoint, especially if Ayton takes a leap.

Of course this is without considering coaching, chemistry, continuity, etc.

Adding a facilitating pg is like oiling a rusted lock. It can make a world of difference.

People have talked about Ayton as if he was a bust. He was a bad azz. He definitely some weaknesses such as his defense and is a little soft around the basket offensively. He is a giant intimidating physical man. I think he has the tools to become great. Time will tell. He wasn’t a bust. Not even close. People just expected him to be Jesus or at least Moses.

I haven't heard anyone here (or in national media) say he was a bust. Plenty have said he wasn't the best player in the draft. And plenty have said his defense was just plain awful (for any player, much less the #1 pick in the draft that is 7-1 with great feet and athleticism). The stat I saw said our opponent shot 7% better at the rim when he was in the game. That probably puts him in the bottom 5th percentile of all players in the game.

If anyone likes listening to podcasts, the Dunc'd On podcast most recently had the Suns overview with Michael Schwartz was really good. It was a breath of fresh air to have a guy that ACTUALLY knows what they are talking about with regards to the Suns on a podcast other than Suns podcasts.

The Phoenix Suns have announced the club’s sports medicine and performance team, naming Brady Howe as Senior Director of Player Health and Performance, adding David Crewe as Director of Medical Services/Head Athletic Trainer, retaining Daniel Bove as Director of Performance, adding Adam Loiacono as Director of Rehabilitation, Cory Schlesinger as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Frank Adams as Assistant Athletic Trainer, Jeff Dolan as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, Kohei Tamagawa as Sport Scientist/Assistant Strength Coach and Amy Atmore as Performance Therapist.

“I’m excited to surround our players with a diverse and dynamic performance staff where every effort revolves around comprehensive player care,” said General Manager James Jones. “The depth of knowledge and expertise will offer our players the tools and support to perform at an elite level while maintaining their health, and will serve as a great complement to our coaching staff.”
