Some pretty glowing comments for Cam and Ty Jerome coming out of camp so far.
Devils advocate here.

They, particularly Jones, took a lot of shit after the draft. This sort of talk smells a bit funny to me, but I hope it's genuine.

Yea I'm taking all the rookie praise with a grain of salt for now.

That’s fair, but comments are also coming from fellow players..like Saric and Booker. Not saying we should expect big things...just nice to hear that they may be on the right track to be good players for us.

Thanks for posting all of that stuff 'Bone. I'm still disappointed Oubre and Bridges are missing time. Hopefully the injuries aren't serious to where they linger all season or lead to surgery; especially with Bridges going into his 2nd year. Of course it would be our luck that we go from having too many SFs to not enough. But I guess the silver lining is that Cam is getting good reps with the first team. I wonder if Dario is seeing some time at SF. Surprised he's only played there a bit in his career but he's got the skillset. Might thin us out a bit at the 4/5 tho.

Ayton's quotes are always great, but he's gotta walk the walk. My bs-meter tends to go off a little when he speaks.

Ayton, Baynes and Kaminsky all expect to play, so we’re actually a bit crowded at 4/5. There’s easily enough 4/5 manpower (when everyone is healthy) to give Dario some at SF. The thing is, we’re also crowded at SF with Oubre and Bridges; and if Cam is good enough to demand minutes, it’s a veritable logjam.

Baynes and Kaminsky are good for 16ish minutes per game as reserves. In fact, it's very possible Cam or Diallio outplays Kaminsky or that Baynes sees fewer minutes because we want shooting when Ayton is out. I'm not worried about them causing a log jam.

Not necessarily a logjam, I’m just saying there’s enough manpower at 4/5 even if Saric is playing there part-time. Responding to Shel’s comment that it would leave us a bit thin at 4/5 if we did that.

I'm fine with Baynes getting as many minutes as he can handle while being effective. I'm not fine with Kaminsky seeing the floor anytime other than a blow out. We're in serious trouble if we're counting on him to contribute to the rotation.

A little? I started ignoring everything he said by mid-season last year.

I can honestly say I'm more excited about this season and this year's roster than I've been since the end of the Nash era. I feel like we have actual roster balance, guys who fit together and a PG who can run the team. No dual PG backcourt, we don't have 5 SFs forcing 1 or 2 to play PF, no useless overpaid vets on a different "timeline" from the younger players. Not sure what that means in terms of wins or losses but this is a group I can feel good about. Genuinely never liked any of the teams we put out there the past 8 or so seasons.
I would agree. First year I don’t actively dislike any of the players.
