I don't like the Barkley comparison for zion.
Zion is finesse and a likely in below average rebounder in the NBA.
Barkley likes to smash into people and do the dirty work.
Nobody's afraid to take a charge against Zion.

Finesse? Did you see some of his nasty power dunks? I assure you guys aren't going to, without any fear, take a charge against him.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

dunks are one thing, but does he post up? does he use his body to move people out of the way?AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 7:49 pmFinesse? Did you see some of his nasty power dunks? I assure you guys aren't going to, without any fear, take a charge against him.
btw, only 4 rebounds today (and 29 points)

Why the hate on Zion? He can't do this...he can't do that..nobody is afraid of him...
Sure, he got 4 re ounds, but he went 12-13 from the floor. That's impressive. They said he wasn't going to get the easy looks in college like he did in hs, but he did anyway. Then they said he wasn't going to get the easy looks in the league like college, but he is any way.

I like Zion, I've never seen a guy with that size be so graceful and balletic on the court.
Re: Around the League: The Off-season
Thankfully he can't quite shoot FTs so at least there is a bit of a flaw to his game.SDC wrote:I like Zion, I've never seen a guy with that size be so graceful and balletic on the court.

I noticed he had a flat shot in college.

Re: Around the League: The Off-season
His biggest flaw could be his weight. It could end his career in 5 or 6 years.
Re: Around the League: The Off-season
I still don't know what kind of player Zion turns into. I can't recall a big with his handles, off the dribble slashing ability, agility, bounce, finesse at 6-7 280? He's built like a tank but handles like a guard. He's never needed a great jumper or post moves because he was always bigger, stronger faster than everyone else and I suspect that will be the case early on in the NBA as well. But what kind of player does that make him if he's basically just an unstoppable slasher but average or below average rebounder and/or defender? I'm not knocking him at all, just genuinely curious how his career goes. Can't think of any player he projects or compares to.

Re: Around the League: The Off-season
I think we'll see stuff similar to Blake Griffin's rookie year with Zion. It's not going to take long for the rest of the league to get tired of him trying to dunk on everyone so a lot of players will just foul him. Then we'll see how well he can adjust.
Does he consistently finish through contact well? Can he endure a beating for the whole season? Most importantly, can his shooting improve?

I don’t see him being below average as a rebounder and especially not defensively.ShelC wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 3:01 pmI still don't know what kind of player Zion turns into. Re: Around the League: The Off-season
His body seems like if Lebron and Kemp had a kid together. If he can stay healthy, he doesn't even need to improve his shot until he starts to lose his athleticism.
Re: Around the League: The Off-season
A better version of Amare?
Re: Around the League: The Off-season
Nah, he's got much more handle and off the dribble breakdown ability. He's like a 6-7 270lb ISO guard.
