Did anyone hear this interview from a few days ago on Bickley and Marotta with Amin Elhassan? He says the rumor around the NBA is that Ayton didn't take the diuretic for a PED but for something embarrassing. Thoughts?

Too much Viagra? Did it last longer than 4 hours?

The only thing I can think of is he was taking viagra or something. I know that it was a problem in MLB and they had to send a notice to players to stop taking it. What do you guys think?

Just more rumors. And if he took it for viagra then he can't claim he unknowingly took it or took it by accident. And if viagra came up in a test, would it matter? Do they test for it?

Aside from drugs/PEDS/whatever, my initial thought was he took a diuretic to drop weight during training camp. Complete conjecture, but I figured there was a "make weight" clause in his contract or maybe just with the team. The Heat are known for having strict conditioning guidelines for their guys and I thought Jones might be implementing that here. There were highlights of Ayton playing in a league late in the summer and some thought he looked out of shape so I thought maybe that played a factor.

Perhaps he needed the diuretic to flush it out of his system, because the effects were too strong? Not to cover it up.

Not sure that’s a gamble worth taking, but, “better judgement” seems a lacking component across Ayton’s mind in this situation. And it would make sense with the Front Office reaction.

The diuretic wouldn’t eliminate the effects...it could flush it out of the urine, but that’s not where the drug is being metabolized from...that’s just where it’s being excreted.

Probably means nothing is going to happen. It was mentioned that Ayton had a meeting with the NBA, which I think was yesterday.

It really sounds like he knew he was going to test positive for THC, which has a slap on the wrist consequence, and took the diuretic to cover it up, which has a severe consequence.
