Around the League: September
Re: Around the League: September
Kidd is a much smarter Coach than People give him credit for. LBJ would not have developed to the best Player in the league, if he wouldn't have had the opportunity to run the Show in Cleveland like he did at the beginning of his career. Greak Freak isn't LBJ, but having the ball in his Hands a lot will only make him a better Player and decicion maker. It will also force him to grow quicker. I think it is a very good idea.
Also, for the roster Kidd had with the Nets, i believe he overachieved. He lost Lopez to Injury and the Boston guys declined quickly... still they made the Playoffs after a rough start and even won a Playoff round.

gosuns - I like how you pulled an ESPN on us and threw LeBron James in there for no reason at all!

That's what happens when you ask Danny Fortson to help you move.

So, how many games out of his affordable contract has Rondo played?carey wrote:Rondo is going to miss all of training camp and preseason with a broken hand.

Undeniable talent, but he always is on recovery, or at least it seems like that, that's why I'm asking.

Gotta be frustrating for Boston fans.

Is it? They're rebuilding and Rondo has one foot out the door. They're not a playoff team this year with or without him, and they wouldn't have been one with him last year either. So I'm not sure his availability is that consequential, unless the hope is to trade him, I guess.Superbone wrote:Gotta be frustrating for Boston fans.
Re: Around the League: September
I have a very hard time believing he fell and broke his hand (at least while sober).
Re: Around the League: September
nobody wants to pay rondo the salary he thinks he deserves. #anyrondofanshere?
Re: Around the League: September
Yeah, I'd be mad at him if I was a Celtics fan. I'd also doubt the hand situation and that would peeve me.INFORMER wrote:Is it? They're rebuilding and Rondo has one foot out the door. Jason Kopono has been out of the league for 2 full seasons. He's 33 so we'll see if he can make a Warriors squad that already has Rush, Livingston, and Barnes backing up the wing spots.

Totally unintentional since i don't get ESPN Herr in switzerland. But you have a point and i will replace LBJ with Lance Stevenson and what having the Ball in his hands has done for his development. The Bobster wrote:gosuns - I like how you pulled an ESPN on us and threw LeBron James in there for no reason at all!

An excellent Zach Lowe piece on various topics: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/nba-w ... ht-howard/
Quick rundown of the key topics.
Quick rundown of the key topics.
- If free agency becomes a more important team-building tool, the teams with the most attractive markets might gain another edge.
- The NBA’s pending new TV deal and the potential for massive salary-cap increases over the next three years might create a short-term blip in which already-loaded teams have more flexibility than usual.
- The league’s proposed reform of the draft lottery has raised similar concerns.
- It’s harder to acquire a star player now via trade, since almost every player available will be at the end of a short contract — and close to free agency.
- Speaking of the draft: It becomes an even more important team-building tool as veteran contracts get shorter.
- The Warriors also signed Andrew Bogut to an extension, a smart (if risky) use of a tool the league accidentally rendered mostly useless.
- With so much turnover, it might get harder for coaches to introduce as much complexity into their playbooks.
