Re: Morris twins extention
I suspect the Timberwolves pick will turn into two #2s. So the Suns will have four #1s and five #2s in the next three years, plus they have the rights to two draft picks that they haven't signed - Bogdanovic who seems to be a legitimate prospect, and Brown who looks like a long shot (figuratively and literally).
Extending the contracts of both Morris brothers makes it clear that if there's an odd man out it's probably Green. Even if they let Green and Randolph go next year they could very easily have 16 players in camp (if they re-sign G. Dragic, sign Brown and add two 1st round picks). Bogdanovic probably won''t come over until at least 2016, and there's probably not much need for him until at least then.

Marcus 4/20
Re: Morris twins extention
I could see us using Bogdanovic's rights as a trade asset. Your probably right, Green would seem the odd man out. But i could also see him take a Discount for some stability. Also don't know how much market he has, really. He has allready been on almost half the league's Teams and some Teams might not buy, that he has changed his attitude. The Bobster wrote:I suspect the Timberwolves pick will turn into two #2s. Re: Morris twins extention
By the end of that extension people will look at Markieff's contract as a huge bargain and will Marcus's as very reasonable. The cap may be $85-90 million by that point.gosuns wrote:Wow, Markieff's contract is a bargain. First thing I thought when I learned about the IT3 signing was what could we get for Green-Ennis+, because I saw IT3 playing the role of gunner off the bench (as well as pure PG duties). The Bobster wrote:Extending the contracts of both Morris brothers makes it clear that if there's an odd man out it's probably Green.

Re: Morris twins extention
There are plenty of players they could shop in the right kind of deal for a big man during the season - Bogdanovic, Green, Goodwin, Ennis, Tolliver, even Tucker.gosuns wrote:I could see us using Bogdanovic's rights as a trade asset. Re: Morris twins extention
The Suns gave the Morris brothers a total and asked them how they would like to split it. Apparently the result is how they value themselves.

Re: Morris twins extention
Looking at it intially I thought we overpaid for both. But taking into account what the salary cap will look like in a few years I am fine with Markieffs deal. Actually its rather fair I think. Marcus is getting overpaid, but its obviously to get Kieff to sign at the deal he did. I think he could of gotten more on the open market..
I don't agree with the tactic, but it is what it is. Glad to have Kieff locked up at a fair deal

“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

"They're very close and we didn't want to suggest anything that would be a disconnect to what they thought their value was," Babby said. "I didn't delegate the whole project to them but I did ask, 'How would you divide it up?' They're so close and in it together that it was better to negotiate the total amount and then go to them for how to divide it. They desperately wanted to be together and they play better together. They motivate each other and it's been fun for me to watch their maturation."
Re: Morris twins extention
Now that I've seen the money for each specific Morris twin, I think the extensions are a bit high but okay overall. I think contracts are about to balloon way up in the NBA and that we're all just going to need a year or two to get used to it. Marcus gets a little overpaid there, but if Markieff keeps improving, that will be a great deal on him.
It does suggest to me that we are sticking with both of those guys for the foreseeable future, and that some of our other SF/PF guys won't be around forever. I think Tucker is probably going to get traded this season, especially after his run-in with the law.

"Hey guys, our total we are willing to spend is 52 million over 4 years. You two figure out how you want to split it and let us know."
Re: Morris twins extention
I'm not sure that I like what this means for TJ. With PJ and now Marcus locked in at somewhat hefty deals, how is he going to get on the court? Marcus deal would make more sense to me if PJ wasn't around. Does that mean that Warren is now trade bait too?

I don't believe Stein reported on what the splits were. He said they were TBD in his initial tweets.carey wrote:The extensions are final. There's a separate thread on the main board. Stein had the total right but the splits wrong. It's 8/yr for Markieff and 5/yr for Marcus.

I was speaking more to the fact that in order to re-sign Kieff we had to re-sign Marcus. This was also before I knew they just gave the two a total and said split it up yourselves...

Re: Morris twins extention
Got it. I'm with you on the package deal, if it came from the Morri. Unless it was a "we want to stay together" and the Suns came back with what I said above. That seems pretty cool.
Re: Morris twins extention
Before last year I wouldn't have minded the twins being traded away. Since then they have really grown on me. Kieff looked really good in the post last year. I think he will be a solid starter. I also wouldn't be surprised if Marcus starts for us this year. I expect that both of them will continue to improve.
The best part of the twins is how hard they work. That and their attitudes. Getting into the gym early in the summer and even cheering on the young guys at the summer league games was awesome to see.
I'm happy McD got them locked up.
