When you watch these impeachment hearings, it's striking the difference between the two parties. The Democrats are calmly and logically asking questions, uncovering facts and details and information, trying to find out the truth about what wrongdoing occurred. The Republicans are making bloviated speeches, often talking for 5 minutes at a time without asking the witness a single question, spouting ridiculous easily falsified conspiracy theories, and doing everything but trying to seek truth. It is shameful. One of these parties is serving the interests of the American people, and the other is not.

Senate Republicans are weighing a speedy impeachment trial that could include no witnesses for President Trump’s legal team or for House Democrats.


Let me get this straight. The Dems hold closed door hearings in the House with just House members (Democrats and Republicans) to listen to the testimony of witnesses. Republicans complain that the hearings should not be private and that they should be public hearings and make a spectacle of them when the Senate storms the hearings and refuse to leave.

Next the Democrats hold a public hearings and allow cameras and the public. Republicans then complain that those hearings shouldn’t be made public.

Next Republicans say that America is sick of these impeachment hearings and just want them to end. In the same breath Republicans complain that Democrats are rushing through the impeachment hearings and not taking their time.

Now Republicans are talking about a speedy Senate trial where they might not allow ANY witnesses from either side to testify. I suppose they won’t allow and evidence to be presented as well. Sounds like a pretty speedy trial alright. They should be able to wrap that up in a day. I suppose we will see a parade of Republicans spending all their time talking about Obama and Biden and nothing else. Then they can truly say based on the evidence presented that Trump is innocent.

New Jersey Democratic Congressman Jeff Van Drew, who had been one of the Democrats that voted against impeachment proceedings, announced today that he is not only leaving the Democrat party but is joining the Republican party. He has been firmly against moving forward with impeachment saying earlier this week that "it was supposed to be incontrovertible" and after the vote to approve the articles appears to have been the last straw. So even though Nancy Pelosi should have enough votes for the articles to pass, not only is she losing votes but now she is also losing seats. She said she would only move forward if it was bipartisan. Well it is, just not the way she expected.

His party switch is cynical and silly. He voted with the Dems 88% of the time, spoke in support of Medicare for All, and he endorsed Cory Booker for President. He is not a Republican by any reasonable measure of ideology. He's switching only because he thinks it will help get him re-elected. Trump met with him and promised to campaign for him if he switched. But I really doubt he'll win again as a Republican; his record won't impress most Republican voters if they care at all about their issues.

It is done in the House. I checked in a couple of times during the day for a few seconds and quickly turned the station each time because Republicans were rambling on about how evil the Dems were and not even bothering to try to defend Trump.

The Senate trial is all but over already except for the formalities. Republicans already congratulating Trump on his victory in the Senate.

The US history books will from now until forever say ‘On December 18 2019 the US House of Representatives voted to impeach Donald J Trump.’

Technically it will just be a stain on his record. An *. How that translates going into the election we will all have to see.

If you are a pasty white guy over 60, 95% chance you were speaking for the GOP. It drops to about 80% if you were a pasty white woman over 60.

And all of this is for naught if it doesn't convince more people to get out and vote. 73.6M people voted against Donald Trump in the last election, but he still won with only 63M votes. It is critical to get more people to vote if we want to rid ourselves of the racist grifter sitting in the oval office.

Obviously the Senate isn’t going to hold a real trial. The Senate Republicans have been meeting with Trump to plot strategy. No witnesses and no evidence allowed should do the trick.
