I prefer Oubre over TJ. Their stats are similar:

Oubre is averaging 18.2 ppg on 46/34/78 splits, 6.4 rpg, and 1.5 apg.
TJW is averaging 18.0 ppg on 51/37/82 splits, 3.8 rpg, and 1.4 apg.

Looks pretty similar on paper. But the eye test is different. TJ was stoic and workmanlike; Oubre is full of emotion and good energy, always encouraging his teammates, firing up the crowd. He is a great locker room guy, great Phoenix community guy, good teammate, good friend to the other players. I do think that counts for something.

That game was flat out terrible. Especially for the starters, imo. Saric rebounded well, but the passing and ball movement was non-existent. Ayton looked like he wanted nothing to do with Sabonis and settled way too much for turnaround jumpers. He wasn't particularly active on the boards, nor did he try to beat anyone down the floor. It would be nice to see him try to get the other team in foul trouble.

Sabonis manhandled Ayton. I think he made every basket when he went at Ayton. Ayton was his bitch.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Sabonis is the guy who has basketball in his blood and grew up playing from the time he could walk. Ayton is the physical specimen who picked the game up late because he was tall. One's a basketball player, the other plays basketball. Not trying to knock DA, it's just the reality of that situation.

It's unforgivable that we had two chances to pick Sabonis and didn't. It was obvious that he was going to be special. We didn't even need to use our primary draft pick on him. We could take a risky swing on, say, Chriss and still get Sabonis with the other pick.

Most of us wanted Sabonis, but it wasn't obvious he was going to be special. Many people thought he would be too physically limited to be more than a heady rotation player off the bench. We thought he was a high floor prospect in a weak draft. Lots of folks who wanted him thought he would fill in until Bender or someone else eclipsed him. Sabonis has done a gret job building up his body. He's stronger, quicker, more nimble on his feet, and now he actually jumps. Props to him.

Yea that's actually a good point. If you wanted to hedge your bet on two PFs with your picks, take a project and a more polished, readier-to-play prospect instead of two raw projects who both need time, attention, development.

And we had chances to take one but didn't and took the other when we shouldn't have. Oh well, life of a Suns fan in the Sarver era.

Is Ty Jerome an NBA basketball player? Ulis showed me more his rookie season.

Jerome should be playing in the G League. Okobo can have the lion's share of backup guard minutes, with Carter and occasionally Johnson taking the rest. Jerome really needs the reps against a different and lower level of competition. Whatever they're doing with him right now isn't working.

Agree. When he plays, he looks very tentative, like he's overmatched ...
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...
