Was trying to work out which a**hole Minny got as the name was blanked out - it's Malik B****** and not Michael B******* :)

I can remove those name censor filters; they are there as a joke anyway.

Reminiscing on the Memphis trade:

Josh Jackson, De'Anthony Melton and two draft picks to the Memphis Grizzlies
for:
Kyle Korver and Jevon Carter.

We already know how good a season Melton's having, making the trade a fail on that alone, but we also bought out Korver.

We're desperate for shooters he's doing well this season - .425% on 3.9 3PA's a game.

Unless I'm missing something that's another really stupid move.

I like the censorship - just couldn't think how Denver ended up with one of our exes, which they didn't..

I think we needed to waive him to get some caps space

Yes his shooting would have indeed helped.

Ya, the reason we traded for korver was he had a partially guaranteed contract. We had to waive him to clear the space to sign Rubio.

The Kennard talk has quieted up. Has it died? Was it just thrown out there to influence other teams? Wouldn’t be surprised with Bowers connections to Detroit that they leaked this to help both teams. Perhaps we’re putting pressure on another team to take our offer, letting them know we have other things in the works. Also establishes Kennard’s value as a first round pick for Detroit.

How much better off would we have been keeping Korver and signing one of the "2nd tier" PGs that were on the market last summer? I am really worried about year 2 and 3 of this Rubio deal.

I would much prefer it dead that happen as described. Yeah, let's bring on an injured 2 guard with only 1 year left on his rookie deal by paying with a 1st rounder and one of the only guys that has been contributing from the 3 point line the last month.

I’m actually kinda surprised no one really likes the proposed Kennard trade. One of our biggest issues is our offense is complete trash when Booker sits. Kennard helps there. He doesn’t have the ability to get to the rim like Booker, but he can shoot and not just off the catch.

I understand the health concerns. And the defensive concerns. But I’m not sure we realize how good he is offensively.

Here’s some per-36 numbers

15/3/3 on 44/38/69
16/4/4 on 44/40/90

The first one is 27 and about to get paid big bucks.
The second is 23 year old Luke Kennard who still has another year on his rookie deal.

Kennard is a great shooter with balky knees and a laid-back demeanor.

Not sure I'm totally bought into this alleged move, especially if it involves a first round pick.
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

Does the first one have bad knees and on the IR for 20+ games and counting?
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

The bum knees really make me hesitant about this Kennard deal. I don't like bringing in a guy that young who already has knees that bad. And we have an absolute trash medical staff now, so I have no confidence that we'll do well at helping him recover.

No he doesn’t. It’s Bogdon Bogdonovich...one of .net’s favorites.

Is there a report indicating this knee injury is something more serious than just an isolated knee injury? I haven’t really looked into it.

I liked the Kennard deal. Statistically, everything is a gamble. But, the odds of getting someone as good as Kennard with the 11th pick in this year's (weak) draft are way below 50-50. In other words, it's a good trade: the expected value of Kennard is significantly higher than the expected value of the pick.

I just know he's been out for over 20 games with bilateral tendinitis of the knees.

According to The Detroit News:

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sport ... 655269002/
Kennard’s injury history has become a concern, as he’s missed chunks of each season, including the last 22 games for the Pistons, because of knee tendinitis.

Well I do agree that the injury is concerning. It’s pretty impossible for me to know how concerning though. The suns medical staff has to make that decision. Commenting on him just as a basketball player, he’s very good and really answers a lot of very specific problems we’ve had this year on offense.

Except that he's a shooting guard and that's not what we need. If the Suns get Kennard, we will see lineups with Carter, Jerome, Kennard, and Booker together.

I think the trades center around Carter, Okobo and a 1st round pick for Kennard. But I get what you're saying. Likely, he'd be more of a scoring punch when Booker is getting a rest.
