Suns News: Week 20 3/9-3/15
Re: Suns News: Week 20 3/9-3/15
Here are Shaq Harrison's stats. Over the last 2 years on the Bulls, his minutes dropped from 19.6 to 11.3. His 3pt% went up from 27 to 38%, and a lot of his other numbers didn't change much despite the decreased minutes. Doesn't just jump off the page, other than maybe his steals and blocks as a hint of his strong defense.

I don’t think anyone thinks he’s a game changer, we’re talking about a 10th man. And Chicago added Coby White and Tomas Satoransky... probably a big reason his minutes went down.
Also he was 4th in DRPM amongst point guards. Beverley, Bradley, and Dunn the only ones ahead of him.

Probably would be more like a 11th or 12th man, imo.

I actually think Dunn would be an intriguing, under-the-radar free agent target. He can likely be had for cheap.Split T wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 11:00 amI don’t think anyone thinks he’s a game changer, we’re talking about a 10th man. Ya he’s another one of those guys that does a whole lot on the court. He’d be really nice if he could shoot...of course he wouldn’t be available for cheap if he could shoot.

Carter has to shoot well, because he can't dribble or pass.

Not a great passer but I don’t see anything wrong with his dribbling skills.

Re: Suns News: Week 20 3/9-3/15
He dribbles fine, but he doesn’t get anywhere with his dribble. He’s not quick enough to get into the lane or athletic/strong/crafty enough to finish in the lane. And he’s not a pull up threat. He’s really just a catch and shoot guy.
Re: Suns News: Week 20 3/9-3/15
They're not. Neither of them are point guards. I would take Shaq back as a reserve to play off the ball.

Re: Suns News: Week 20 3/9-3/15
No, Carter's dribbling ability is below average for a so-called point guard.

Agreed about Dunn. He hasn't been able to stay healthy now for three seasons in row, though.Shabazz wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 3:02 pmI actually think Dunn would be an intriguing, under-the-radar free agent target. He is the best PG in terms of TO% and STL% on the team, and only Cam Johnson hit 3s at a higher rate than he did. I am not advocating for him as our primary backup PG, but he was more effective than a lot of guys on our team at their position.specialsauce wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 9:38 pmFixed that for you

Carter was fine when he defended the 1 and played off the ball on offense.
Re: Suns News: Week 20 3/9-3/15
Agreed. He wasn't good when he was the primary ball handler and distributor.

Numbers don’t match the eye test. He’s got PJ Tucker disease. He’s got LA fitness offensive talent with MJ confidence. That’s an immediate no from me. Being better than Okobo is not an achievement it just means James Jones sucks at his jobIndy wrote: ↑Mon May 25, 2020 9:57 amHe is the best PG in terms of TO% and STL% on the team, and only Cam Johnson hit 3s at a higher rate than he did. Re: Suns News: Week 20 3/9-3/15
I think the numbers matched the eyes pretty well. From the eye test, he was clearly our 2nd best defender, and a really good 3 point shooter. Like others said, he was a good when guarding 1s and playing off the ball on defense. That freed Booker up to guard the easier of the 2 back court players on the other team, and gave him a very reliable target on offense.specialsauce wrote: ↑Mon May 25, 2020 11:50 amNumbers don’t match the eye test. Again, I agree he isn't a long-term solution at the back up PG for a playoff team, but there aren't many bench guys out there that are pure PGs.
Re: Suns News: Week 20 3/9-3/15
Just needs to stay in his role. Tucker was doing too much here because we didn’t have better options. He’s been amazing for Houston. Probably their 3rd most important player. Carter will never have as big of an impact as tucker, he’s too small, but he can definitely be helpful playing 10 minutes a game if he just focuses on harassing ball handlers and taking spot up 3’s.

They do for me. You see what you want to see, I guess. Same with Oubre.specialsauce wrote: ↑Mon May 25, 2020 11:50 amNumbers don’t match the eye test. He’s got PJ Tucker disease.
