More and more I get the feeling Rubio may opt out because of his newborn. Other players have done so and the Suns aren't talking probably so it won't be a distraction. Adding Payne means they know they might be shorthanded too. Hopefully he's just waiting until the last minute to get there and the Suns are OK with it because he's a vet.

If he was in the last year of his contract, I could see it. but he just signed an over-priced deal for a PG turning 30 that can't shoot. And with the talk of the team coming together and fighting as one, I just don't see him doing that. I kind of hope he does, it it means we would consider trading him to get out of that contract (I think year 3 is going to be so bad).

I don't see what the contract has to do with anything. He's locked in and proved his worth IMO. And he's still relatively young, even if he's got a lot of miles on him. His game is what is it, so I don't see a major decline coming as he hits 30. If we draft a PG of the future and can afford to get rid of him, by all means. But i don't see him as some albatross deal where he's so overpaid vs his production or impact.

If players opt not to come for the Orlando season bubble, must they forfeit the remainder of their season salary? Or do they still get paid if they stay home?

They forfeit it if they’re healthy. There was an article talking about Oladipo giving up $3 million if he doesn’t play.

All of the social media posts so far have featured only 6 players: Book, Ayton, Payne, Carter, Dario and Oubre. They’ve obscured or darkened the background in all the pictures. They haven’t said who’s there and who isn’t, No Comment-ing when asked. They’ve had no actual video from practices, unlike most teams.
Now confirmed that Frank the Tank is there.

https://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2020 ... art-bubble

Big names left to confirm: Rubio, Bridges, and Baynes. Losing either Rubio or Bridges would be devastating. Baynes would hurt a lot, but Kaminsky can fill in the role of back up, stretch 5 ok.
Smaller names we haven’t heard from are Okobo, Lecque, Cam.

I’m pretty positive either Rubio or Okobo is at least one of them. Something precipitated the Cameron Payne signing. It being Rubio would hurt, Okobo wouldn’t be a big deal.

Did Rubio go back to Spain? Was he in the US the whole time?

Remember when he used to be able to stay in front of his man on defense? He has lost a step there and is now a pretty bad defender. That isn't going to get worse with age?

I still chalk that up to fatigue from his international play in the summer. He was very good on defense to start the year and then both he and Baynes hit the wall in November. He looked better when he came back later on after some rest.

Rubio played all season in the NBA, went right into international play, won the World Cup and MVP and went right into the Suns season without a break. That has to make you a little fatigued.

Add Diallo to the "In Orlando" list. I spot Ty Jerome practicing in there too:

And even though he's had the longest break from basketball in his career, he has a newborn boy, so all that rest is kind of out the window.

That’s a different kind of rest though. His body/muscles/joints should be well rested.

Yes, he has had the same break I have and aside from a broken fibula I am so ready to go back to work.

He's at the age where Nash turned it up and got going on multiple MVPs.

Rubio rather ain’t coming or got a case of the Rona. No way he’s there and hasn’t been mentioned at all by Suns PR

There's still time. My money is on a late arrival.

Lots of positive individual suns player news coming out. Really sounds like everyone was working hard on their bodies. DA, Saric, and Cam all supposedly in great shape. Just saw a tweet where Cam added 10-12 lbs of muscle. Tweets saying Ty Jerome getting his body into an nba body as well.

These 8 games could tell us a lot. Gonna be especially huge for Jerome/Saric. If Saric shows us something more, maybe we bring him back next season. If Jerome can show he can play in the league, opens up our options in the draft a little bit more.

A Rubio/Booker/Bridges/Oubre/Ayton starting 5 that has Jerome/Johnson/Saric off the bench has options in free agency/draft. Still needs a guard and a big, but not so desperately. Think Joe Harris could be interesting.
