And I'll say it again - Sarver isn't afraid to spend available money (ask Hedo Turkoglu, Josh Childress, Hakeem Warrick, Michael Beasley, Brandon Knight, Jared Dudley, Trevor Ariza and Tyson Chandler), they just don't want to spend a lot of it, and they haven't been smart when they've done it for the most part.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 3:43 pmI'll say it now. There was Bridges , then people start changing their tune on Cam , then Payne and now Carter popping up on my timeline again for Good reasons

My reasoning has more to do with the things mentioned by Split; new construction costs and lost revenue. The Bobster wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 3:54 pmAnd I'll say it again - Sarver isn't afraid to spend available money (ask Hedo Turkoglu, Josh Childress, Hakeem Warrick, Michael Beasley, Brandon Knight, Jared Dudley, Trevor Ariza and Tyson Chandler), they just don't want to spend a lot of it, and they haven't been smart when they've done it for the most part.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 3:43 pmI'll say it now. He doesn’t even have to commit long term money. Rookie deal is one of the best ways to get cheap talent. If he’s worried about long term sustainability because of the coronavirus. Just sign someone to a 1 year deal. If he doesn’t at least do that, I’ll be upset.

INF will set you straight.Wormwood wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 3:29 pmKorver and Tyler Johnson were effectively $22M in dead cap space.
Oubre is energetic, but his plus minus is terrible for a guy making $15M.
Kaminsky is gone (at $5M)
I consider the Suns to have upwards of $35M to play with this summer in deals and S&Ts. I also want to see them aggressively target Christian Wood. Other than Halliburton, nothing interests me with the 10th pick.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

I'm highly skeptical they'll try to sign a FA above ~$2M/year, so the most interesting move will be the contract they offer Saric. Much like Cam Payne, his play in the bubble has shown that he can be a reliable player in the right role. I could see a team offering him $8M/year and I'm not sure the Suns would match that number.Split T wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 4:12 pmHe doesn’t even have to commit long term money. Also, how much are they willing to spend to bring back Carter? I believe the smart teams around the league are taking a long look at him now. He could probably get around $3M/year, IMO. I know Monty really values him, so I'm sure Jones heavily considers that. Maybe Carter would be willing to take a little less to stay in Phoenix where he trusts the staff and his role will enable him to be a difference maker on the team.
I'm going to be pissed off if they pick up Kaminsky's option. He's barely an NBA player and certainly not an MLE player.

Keep the team we have, but let Kaminsky go. Bring back Carter, keep Payne, and see if Saric will take a reasonable deal for 1-2 years. Use our draft pick to bring in one more young guy. Make one FA push if there's cap space, probably for depth at the 4 (especially if we lose both Kaminsky and Saric). Try to nab Jerami Grant, Paul Millsap, Christian Wood (longshot). I'd also be open to considering Oubre trades, but not eager to do so unless we find a really good power forward we could get in return.

Just a thought- i think it’s funny that It seems like there are more angry comments about players having a bad night during this 7 game winning streak than during the past horrendous seasons.
Also, Ayton seems like he is in his head right now- almost like a Chris Bosh in Miami kind of vibe. I wonder what his relationship is with the other guys on the team.

Ridiculous hypothetical that Could be important to consider when the FO are thinking about the offseason: do you think the suns would have won 6 strait if Oubre was healthy?

I think they would have won 7 in those 6 games and with extra pizzazz to boot.

In terms of cap maneuvering, we could decline Frank's option w/the MLE and give part of it to Carter? Say 3 yrs at 3/4mil per?Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 5:06 pmI'm highly skeptical they'll try to sign a FA above ~$2M/year, so the most interesting move will be the contract they offer Saric. Saric is restricted so he would have to find another team to want him at a price we wouldn't match. What's that number? Do other teams see him as a starter? Are they willing to potentially overpay just to get him as a bench guy? Can we offer him the MLE as an extension?

Agreed, but if the refs were better, the players wouldn't do it.The Bobster wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 12:27 pmI really hate how the NBA has become a "shoot and fall down" league.

This feels like an uncommon criticism of Saric. I've never heard his basketball IQ be questioned.
