Re: NBA Draft 2020
I want to keep Oubre. For Haliburton, I'd talk to ATL. Their GM has showed he is willing to trade down and gamble big; perhaps our #10 and a future 1stR can net us their #6, which probably secures one of Hali or Toppin. CLE (#5), DET (#7), NYK (#8) should be willing to listen too.
Re: NBA Draft 2020
I'd be all in on that kind of trade.

Re: NBA Draft 2020
We should try and trade Ty Jerome for a pick in the 30s. Maybe NYK @ 38. There will be interesting players available there that better fit our roster, like Paul Reed or Tyler Bey or Daniel Oturu.

Re: NBA Draft 2020
That’s my dream scenario, but I doubt anyone gives us anything for Jerome
Re: NBA Draft 2020
In Suns’ world we don’t get anything for players. We pay other teams to take him off our hands.

Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

The last thing the Suns should be doing in this draft is trading up.

That's the precedent set by our GMs. Act like a fool and be treated like a fool.

Re: NBA Draft 2020
Why? Every draft has talent. It's great to have tiers and a big board and what not, but when you believe you have a guy, you secure him if you can (depending on price, of course).Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 4:03 pmThe last thing the Suns should be doing in this draft is trading up.

Re: NBA Draft 2020
It's not just about talent. It's about value based talent.
The difference between the 10th pick and the 5th pick is roughly $1.5M per season and everything I've read and seen about this draft tells me that there's not much of a difference between the 4th pick and the 20th pick.

Re: NBA Draft 2020
I don't mind giving up value if I get my guy. I can settle for others, but I'd be ecstatic if PHX walked away from this draft with Haliburton or Toppin. To me, that's worth a future 1stR depending on protections, regardless of how many prospects are considered to be on a similar level to those two.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 9:06 pmIt's not just about talent. Re: NBA Draft 2020
Neither of them are worth an extra first round pick, IMO.

Re: NBA Draft 2020
If saving money is a priority, if we use a future draft pick to move up in the current draft, that future salary we are no longer paying can net off against the cost of the current higher draft pick.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 2:53 amNeither of them are worth an extra first round pick, IMO.
If you see someone you like you have to go for it.

The lottery and first round in general are littered with role players, and I don't think any of them are really worth giving up an additional asset besides a fringe roster player to get. I'd rather see them trade back and pick up an asset.
Haliburton, Okoro, Toppin, Avdija.. Whatever. One is just as much of a risk as the next to me.

Agreed. I have no desire to invest additional assets to trade up.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 2:53 amNeither of them are worth an extra first round pick, IMO.

I disagree on Toppin. I think his floor is a starter. I don't see hardly any risk with him.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 5:00 amHaliburton, Okoro, Toppin, Avdija.. Whatever. One is just as much of a risk as the next to me.

Re: NBA Draft 2020
Toppin would be a solid pick. At this point, they should draft the best player available. This will likely be our last pick this high for a while- hopefully. Make it count or use it to truly upgrade the roster.INFORMER wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 10:20 pmI disagree on Toppin. I think his floor is a starter. Dominating mid-major talent and youthful athleticism are there, but I question just about everything else.INFORMER wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 10:20 pmI disagree on Toppin. Re: NBA Draft 2020
And that's not worth a future 1stR (assuming it doesn't have stupid light protection)?INFORMER wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 10:20 pmI disagree on Toppin. I think his floor is a starter.
