There was also an outbreak involving 58 people at a single Starbucks here recently. Everyone infected was a customer. Not a single employee was infected because they were wearing masks the whole time. Weird how that works.
fake news. masks block oxygen and make you breathe in co2!

I keep rolling my eyes at this "factoid" spreading around in Republican social circles about how COVID-19 is actually only responsible for 6% of deaths that claim to be caused by it. The argument is that these people have other comorbidities that are the "real" cause of death, such as heart disease or diabetes or lung cancer or whatever.

This is such a stupid misinterpretation of medical data. Of course many of those who die of COVID have comorbidities. That's why COVID is able to kill them! The point is, they wouldn't have died that day if not for COVID. They were weakened somewhat before, then COVID arrives, and it takes them out.

Pretty fucking crazy stuff today. A week before announcing to the country that it isn't a big deal, no worse than the flu, Trump admits on tape that he knew is was much deadlier and airborne. And plenty of people believed him, and cost as much as 50k lives (and counting).

And you already see plenty of his supporters in Congress defending him. The presidential spokesperson lied repeatedly today about it. It is bonkers that people still support him. It is like an abusive spouse that you keep running back to.

I just don't get how people can look past this stuff. These audio tapes prove that Trump KNEW in Feb 2020 the virus was deadly, that it could infect both young and old people, and could be spread by airborne means. But then he proceeds to do speeches and tweets and interviews for MONTHS claiming it's safe and it's fine and young people are almost immune and on and on. These are blatant lies, and they are directly responsible for millions of people not taking the virus seriously, and for many tens of thousands of Americans' deaths.

This is an absolutely horrific scandal, and it should be immediately disqualifying for any President or anyone holding any public office. It is an infuriating and complete disregard for human lives. He should be thrown in prison for the rest of his life for doing this. How can 40% or more of the population want this man back in office?

Because he is from their team. And xenophobia. Those two things together account for 95% of his votes.

right?!? The people that support Donald Trump support Trump over their neighbors, over their fellow Americans, over citizens of the world, and honestly over their own safety. It is amazing the size of the blinders it takes for that.

It is crazy that he knew in early February that it was airborne and 5 times more deadly than the flu and yet, not only didn't tell the American people, but lied and said it was the same as the flu and encouraged not wearing masks to the American people. Unbelievable. This is an American horror story.

He says it's because he didn't want to hurt the market, which is true. The problem with that is that he only cares about the market because it's been his biggest accomplishment in the past three years. (Debating whether it was an actual accomplishment is another topic.) Therefore, he neglected to inform people about COVID for the sake of his own re-election, which is outright treasonous to the American people whom he is supposed to be serving.

Treason is defined as helping an enemy, so it’s only treason if you buy the idea that this was an attack by China, and hold Trump accountable for helping them do it.

Downplaying a natural disaster and discouraging people and states from life-saving precautions is disgusting, but it’s not treason.

I think we literally have to be at war for anything to be treasonous in the US.

But yeah, he put the health and safety of Americans below that of Wall Street.
