I know I have been a big critic of Rubio, and that has been much more based on what I expect to see from him in year 2 and 3 of his contract. But there is no way that Paul is worth 25M more than Rubio each year. If we do a trade, it better include some great picks coming back to us.
That’s how I feel exactly but it seems most think we be the ones giving up draft capital not the other way around.
How do feel about giving up the 10th pick?
If we renounce everyone, can't we send out Rubio and filler, take the whole CP3 salary into the space and OKC gets a 15mil TPE? We have no money left at that point right? Just minimum contracts to offer?

That is what I am reading too. Seems backwards to me. I guess we will see who has leverage and/or who knows how to negotiate. Earn that money Champ...
As for 10, I guess it depends on what is coming back besides Paul and what we send out. I am always open to hearing deals...

I didn't think we had enough money to do that. If we renounce everyone we are about 15M under the cap, right? So we have to get close to that and agree that minimum contracts along with Chris Paul makes us a much better team next year (or next month I guess).

Think we can get to about 18 in space. How do trades work if you’re under the cap. Do we take 18 off the salary, so 41-18 to 23 million and then have that be within 120% of what we send out? Or does it all need to fit?
Rubio plus Jerome puts us within 120%. Would be 4 million short of fitting the whole contract in. That’s essentially the 10th pick though. So could we do Rubio/Jerome/10 for CP3?
That keeps Oubre, but we’d have to renounce everyone and we’d lose our pick. We’d essential have 6 guys and have only the room exception and minimum contracts to fill out the rest of the roster.

OKC got 4 first rounders in the Westbrook for Paul trade and that turned out to be an upgrade. If they get additional picks for sending him out it’s because Jones can’t hold Presti’s jock strap.
We’ll need that pick for depth. I’d trade back with New Orleans to pick up Hart and consider a player like Achiuwa for big man depth.

Something in my gut tells me this ain’t happening. Suns have been so secretive that I feel like if talks were anywhere close to being serious we wouldn’t hear about it. Feels like OKC posturing more than anything else. I put this at a cp3% chance of happening.
I’m sure the leak came from OKC side, perhaps trying to get another CP3 suitor to pony up more. Or perhaps get the suns to offer more. If so, I’m hoping the suns are holding strong on not including any picks coming from us.

That’s how feel. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was something that was only briefly discussed and both sides have moved on since.
If there was a way to get CP3 and keep Oubre still, that would be fantastic. I’d be extremely happy with that. I know Sauce would disagree.
For fucks sake, the only positive of the CP3 deal I could think of would be getting rid of Oubre. Having 2 primadonnas on our team would solidify my doom.
I hate CP3s attitude for very different reasons I hate Oubres persona
Im annoyed that the Suns are even having discussions about him, let alone that we would actually have to give up draft picks to take on his monstrous salary. This feels like such a Sarver move.

I dont see how that works salary wise, not declining the Kaminsky and Okobo options drops us to like 11 million in cap space. That doesn’t make up the 18 million difference in salary.
