Bey very well could be in play at 10. Everyone seems to like him but he's usually pegged in that late lotto to late teen range. CBSSportsline has us taking him at 10 and he could be a Cam Johnson type of pick for us. He's an older Soph, comes from a very good program in Villanova. He's listed at 6-8 215 but looks closer to 225 and has a thicker frame so he might be more suited as a stretch 4 moreso than Oubre or Cam who are slighter and have narrower frames. He'd provide insurance against losing Oubre and is another knockdown shooter who can put it on the floor and switch off on defense.

Shooting, shooting, shooting. I’m actually ok with all of them. I’d trade down a couple spots and pick up a 2nd. Tyrell Terry not on that rule out list.

Bey makes a lot of sense if they decide to go with Dario as the main big man off the bench.

If the Chris Paul stuff goes through...

Ayton/Saric/?
Cam/?/Bey
Bridges/?/Bey
Booker/Carter
Paul/Payne/Carter

Add one FA like Davis Bertans or Joe Harris and that's a pretty solid 8 man rotation.

Feels more like Haliburton is still in play.

Haliburton is probably gone by 10 I would imagine.

Im terms of win now, I think Nesmith is ready to go. He can be a high volume shooter off the bench. Otherwise I’m fine using the 10th pick to nab another established player or sign and trade.
The Suns appear to be trying to compete for real and that is going to require stars on huge contracts so it needs to be balanced out somehow. I think strategically we should walk from this draft with at least one rookie, unless a move is too good to refuse. If you hit the pick you get a contributor for less than the MLE.
Yeah. Sounds like Gallo might be on board too if we put up the $.
I see a lot of talk about Gallo but I’m not interested. He’s just not clutch at all. He goes through hot and cold streaks and is not consistent.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Gallo is too expensive for the role the Suns would want him to play. Especially so if they trade for Paul.

Doesn’t have a great playoff resume...can’t say I’ve watched him enough to know how consistent he is. He has shot over 40% from 3 on a very high volume the last 2 years. Though if shooting is what we’re after, just sign Bertans.

The more I think about it, I think if we’re gonna make a big splash in free agency at PF, we need to sign Wood.

I keep forgetting about Ibaka, he actually makes a lot of sense with the Chris Paul news. You just sign him to a 2 year deal and let him expire with CP3. I’d bring him off the bench though and play him mostly at the 5. Paul Millsap makes some sense for similar reasons.

Yeah, Ibaka is a very interesting target but I believe he wants to get paid; he just had a career year statistichally and proved to be key in the finals the year before.

Still, there is a scenario where a Ibaka, Millsap or other relevant PF (Woods, Gallo, Grant) can be acquired, but it makes the roster pretty expensive:

1.- You do a trade for Paul using Rubio and a s+t Saric/Baynes.

2.- After you acquire Paul, make a move for a PF that is willing to come here for a contract that works under the cba, in a sign and trade where PHX is sending out the combined salary of Kaminsky, Jerome, Okobo, Diallo, Leque, which means the incoming PF can make ~17M in the first year of his new contract (you can also make a double sign and trade using the guy not involved in the Paul move between Saric and Baynes).

This works because after trading for Paul we are still pretty far from the apron (138M) so we'd be able to execute a second s+t. But like I said, it is very expensive as we are looking at a roster making around $130M.

Granted, we'd have a rotation of Paul - Booker - Mikal - Cam - Ayton, with Oubre, new PF/C, Carter, Payne, #10 off the bench, which I believe would put us in the next tear below LAL. And we wouldn't be strangled long term because Paul expires in two years.

Ok, now I am done with the rosterbation. But really, I have not been this excited for an offseason in a loooong time.

We're incredibly f'd up if they pick Babes, a projected second round bloody pick, at 10...Terry at least for crying out loud! And passing on Hayes who has demonstrated strong court vision would be dumb! Or at least go after Williams or Precious...Bane's? GTFOOH...

And Paul on this roster is premature, to make that kind of commitment...IMHO...

Bane is moving up, he’s not a 2nd round pick. I’d be surprised if he made it to 20. He very likely will go ahead of Precious.

I'm not sold on Banes. I don't think he'll be very effective in the NBA playing with that face mask.

Ibaka is older than Chris Paul. Gallo is always hurt.

As for Saddiq Bey, I marked him as a Jones/Sarver guy a while back, for basically the same reasons ShelC said. He fits the Cam / Bridges pattern but he's stronger and in theory has a better game inside the 3pt line. My concerns with him are that he's not a great rebounder and IMO his body does different things every time he shoots. The shots go down, so maybe I'm just making up that complaint.

I think we still need another guy who can attack the basket with the ball in his hands. I'm not sure we get that at 10 with the other things this front office values.

Yeah, it's tough for those guys who attack the basket with no ball in hand to score!
