Yeah, I think we need athleticism up front. Some nights guys like Bazely and Holmes would just kill us. Ideally, whoever we get is also smart, but we could def use someone to counter the pure hustle guys.
I'd have no problem trading back for a later lotto pick and a late 1st or early 2nd if it meant getting a young athletic big and still getting a guy we're targeting.
I’d think that’s another option. Dallas has 18 and 31 I believe.

There is no way I am giving up #10 for #18 and #31.

Doing a quick research going back to 2014, the #10 pick has been traded three times: in 2018 for #16 and a quality future 1stR; in 2017 for #15 and #20; and in 2014 for #12, a future 1stR and a future 2ndR.

In other words, whoever wants to trade up to #10 better be ready to pony up an extra 1stR, especially since we have lost one in the Paul trade.

If we do trade back, we really need to wait until we’re on the clock to do it. This draft has a lot of potential to get weird and a guy like Toppin or Hali might slip.

I hope we can pick up a second rounder to select Paul Reed. That guy is going to be a good PF, I just have no idea why he's not getting more attention as a top prospect. I really think it's because he played for a DePaul team that underperformed.

Looking at the analytics and modeling side of things, Suns should be zeroing in on Devin Vassell as the guy to take this draft. Multiple independent models are picking him as a guy with the right tools to be a high quality NBA player.

As a back up, they should look at Saddiq Bey. Jalen Smith would be great if they move back a few slots as a rebounding 6'10" PF with 3 point range. Aaron Nesmith is an oddity: some models love him, some don't.

Well, and you would hope we learned our lesson from the Curry trade/non-trade.

Paul Reed was on my radar a few months ago as an energy big with some range. I wouldn't trade too far back but maybe the Cs for their 14th and 26th or 30th. At 14 we'd still have a shot at guys like Bey, Bane, Terry, Maxey and 26th/30th maybe Reed, Azibuike, McDaniels. Philly has 21 and 34 and 36 tho 21 may be a bit too far back.

I'm thinking of the could have had Igoudala 7th pick we traded before the draft.

I hope Payne can grow into a player if we aren't interested in the point guards.

So Bane, Bey, Vassell, outside shot at Lewis. Sounds good to me. I can live with any of those guys. Would hope we trade back if it’s Bey or Bane.

No interest in Haliburton?? That just sounds dumb.

My guess is Gambo just hasn’t heard anything about Haliburton. He won’t make it to 10, so no reason to discuss him. I’m sure we’d take him if he was there.

There are so many guys I like in the second half of the first round in this draft. I really hope they can trade back and pick up a veteran player in a deal.

Only if they land real players. I have never found myself so all over the place with a draft. Patrick Williams, Vasell just looks like sure things. I’d just stand pat and draft the surest thing at 10, vets will come to us.

As for Saddiq Bey, I marked him as a Jones/Sarver guy a while back, for basically the same reasons ShelC said. He fits the Cam / Bridges pattern but he's stronger and in theory has a better game inside the 3pt line. My concerns with him are that he's not a great rebounder and IMO his body does different things every time he shoots. The shots go down, so maybe I'm just making up that complaint.
Yeah, the rebounding is a concern.

The Suns will trade back in the first round, Vassell will drop and a bunch of people will be screaming for the Suns to take him.

Instead they'll take Bane and everyone will roast James Jones for it because someone on a website said it was 5-10 spots "too early".
I hope people aren't screaming for Vassell. He is very overrated.

No problem with picking Bane - he isn't Cam, and this isn't last year. There isn't a lot that separates prospects 10-40, IMO. Bane is tough, a tremendous shooter, great physical tools, and a solid pass/rebounder.
