POR also made a really good move trading for Covington. Besides expiring crap, all they give up is #16 and a protected future 1stR lottery protected until 2027 (then becomes two seconds).
Pretty low price to pay for a great fit on a cheap contract that will really help Lillard-CJ-Nurkic.

Re: Around the League: Offseason
As for Jrue to MIL, the return feels too light for such a big investment. They are giving up control over five 1stR picks, plus Bledsoe and George Hill. This could become a massive overpay as this is the kind of package I'd expect for a bonafide allstar or even a fringe superstar.
This could end up meaning the end of Giannis in MIL wether he signs an extension or not.

Don't like that Covington is in Portland because he'll help them. He can be injury prone but I was hoping they'd stick with Ariza and Melo and be another year older.
Hopefully Portland won't matter as much to us now. The NOLA/Milwaukee deal feels like a big deal but I think the improvement is incremental unless they add to their bench. Jrue is better than Bledsoe but I don't know that he's their missing piece. Bogdan is a nice piece tho and the shooter they need.

Re: Around the League: Offseason
That Jrue trade is nuts. Milwaukee is giving away *five* picks (directly or via swap) for him? I like the guy but geez, that's ridiculous.
Re: Around the League: Offseason
I feel bad for the Rockets. It just feels like James Harden should get to spend his days there chucking 3s and falling down until he's 38. Being forced into trading him now for a much more boring player like Simmons just feels wrong. They'll go from being a perennial contender / near-contender for years to one of the league's worst teams almost overnight. I feel for their fans. But that's what happens when you trade for Russell Westbrook; your team goes down the tubes.

If I'm the Rockets, I'm not sure I want Simmons over a package of Dinwiddie, Levert, Allen and picks. I like Simmons but given how limited he is offensively, you really need to build up the roster and pay a max deal for him. If you're bottoming out, then sure take Simmons and tank. But at least with Dinwiddie, Levert and Allen you're getting a core to compete with or moveable pieces down the line.

In isolation, I would take the BRK deal over PHI. I am not sure what else would be included with Simmons, though.ShelC wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 8:23 amIf I'm the Rockets, I'm not sure I want Simmons over a package of Dinwiddie, Levert, Allen and picks. It is like you and Saucy are two sides of the same coin.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 8:19 amI feel bad for the Rockets. Re: Around the League: Offseason
Seems like the right thing to happen here is for Westbrook and Oubre to both end up on the same team, strutting and chucking up shots and winning 30 games a year. Sauce and I could both root for that team!
Re: Around the League: Offseason
I think that is a really poor return for Bogdanovic. Milwaukee is having a good offseason.Ring_Wanted wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 2:15 amMIL is sending out Donte Divicenzo, Ersan Illyasova and DJ Wilson. I like Donte in a Delonte West-like role on a contender, but this is a pretty good deal for MIL.

Re: Around the League: Offseason
That would be such a weird trade with all the uncertainty around John Wall's health.

Re: Around the League: Offseason
Everyone knows how much I value the draft, but if I were a Pelicans fan, I would hate that deal. Hill and Bledsoe do nothing for me, and MIlwaukee's picks will all likely be one of the last picks in the first round for next several years. I'd be wearing out the puke emoji if I belonged to a Pelicans message board.
Re: Around the League: Offseason
They are super late picks too, by that I mean they are in 2025 and 2027, plus #24 this year.

I wouldn't mind either of them in the Javon Carter role.

Interesting format coming ahead. The Pacific division has no chill. Sac gonna get trounced all 16 games, lol.

Re: Around the League: Offseason
I agree. Plus I'm curious how the Kings will mend things with Buddy, given the rumors that he wouldn't even return Walton's texts. DiVicenzo is nice but Bogdanovic is a much more proven scorer. I assume the Bucks had at least some assurances that Giannis will sign his extension, and that Jrue is open to staying if things go reasonably well. This gives them a clear 1, 2A, and 2B, a pretty killer defensive lineup, and Bogdanovic who might be the most cutthroat scorer of the bunch to take crunch time shots.INFORMER wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 7:04 pmI think that is a really poor return for Bogdanovic. Only problem is they'd have to fill the roster with minimum guys from here on out.
If this thing falls apart I guess they can always sell off their four main pieces for picks. Given how teams are throwing picks around like Halloween candy, I guess Milwaukee can replenish its coffers soon enough if the doomsday scenario really takes place.

Re: Around the League: Offseason
So the Bulls would jump to 2 and lose a young big in Carter, presumably to take Wiseman and then the Ws would maybe go young swing with Deni? I've read Patrick Williams is moving up but 4 feels too high. If Toppin is there would they take another big or a bigger guard in Hali?
